Connection dropping every 24 hours from Windows Client.
I changed my SMB.conf on the DC's and the member as per your instructions. Now the connection dropped at 10 hours, which appears to be the default end time of the certificate.

idmap_ad and RFC2370 (inconsistent results)
Hi everyone.
I'm encountering problems with the management of the id of the users,
in the DC and in the domain members (RFC2370).
I'm using Samba Version 4.2.10-Debian on Debian8.5.
This is the DC configuration / result.

Samba4 Member Server not working
Hi,
I have one Samba4 server running as Active Directory Domain Controller.
It's working like a charm.
So I needed to add another server to be a Member Server (File Server).
The server is running samba-4.0.9.
Configured and compiled ok:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/samba --sysconfdir=/etc
--localstatedir=/var --mandir=/usr/man --bindir=/usr/bin
--sbindir=/usr/sbin --libdir=/lib

join samba to a 2003 rc2 domain
We have identified a problem joining samba to a windows 2003 rc2 domain.
Using mit kerberos 1.5, and the latest version of samba (3.0.25b), net join
ads would throw up the error:

domaincontroller.mynet.mydomain.com. Error was NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

Samba 4, DHCP and Bind
Hi All,
I'm trying to integrate Samba 4 DHCPD and Bind 9.9 into a complete solution.
I'm using the BIND/Samba 4 DLZ plugin.
DHCP by itself works and hands out IP addresses.
What I would like to have happen is the following:
- PC is joined to the Samba 4 domain (this works)
- PC gets an IP via DHCPD
- DHCP or the PC registers the IP in BIND
Network PC's should resolve cleanly when

Force a static HWaddr to tinc interface
Hi,
I have been working with tinc network where one host will provide the IP
addresses over DHCP to each connected node. Tinc runs in switch mode.
It seems that the HWaddr of the tinc interface is regenerated every time
when tinc is (re)started. As a result, DHCP server will assign a new IP for
the host. Is there any configuration variable we could use to avoid HWaddr
changing?
Currently, I

Tinc1.1 generates Port automatically when port is occupied
I like the config generator of tinc 1.1! An issue to consider on the
default behavior:
It turns out 'tinc -n mynet init mynodename' makes up a default Port=...
when the standard port is taken:
"Warning: could not bind to port 655. Tinc will instead listen on port
22911".
It is nice that this is autodetected and warned, but I wonder whether it is
nice to let this

tinc 1.1pre4 on Win7x64 --mlock prevents service from starting
c:\APPS\TINC\tincd.exe --mlock --net=mynet --config=C:\APPS\tinc\mynet
Without --mlock, the service starts OK.
With --mlock, the service fails to start.

tinc 1.1pre4 on Win7x64 coughs on #comment in first line of host file
I have the habit of putting the name of the host within the host file
as a comment usually on the first line. Helps when files are renamed
and tracking. The new version exports Name = victor and so the old
comment style is not necessary. I would think the new version should
still simply ignore lines that begin with the '#' character.
For example, a normal host file named victor that

Excel 'Document not saved' Error when using SMB2 Protocol
Hi Samba Users,
I'm in the process of building a Samba4 CTDB /GPFS Cluster joined as a
member server to AD that also supports ACL's .
It has taken some time but almost everything is working now :) . My one
outstanding issue is editing files using Excel 2007 on Windows 7 results in
a 'Document not saved' error. I believe this is an issue with the SMB2
protocol as I can edit the same

wpa_supplicant and machine freezes
Hi Folks,
I'd like to install my USB-WLAN-Stick Netgear WG111v3.
Ndiswrapper works correct after installing Kernel-Modules from atrpm

But by calling wpa_supplicant with

machine freezes.

Strange network file access behavior
I have a Samba PDC and a file server (domain member). They are both
running CentOS 4, with Samba3-3.0.24-30 and LDAP 2.3 (on PDC). Domain
authentication seems to be running fine and file access on the file
server works also. I have one share on the file server that gives me
trouble. Whenever I access files from this one directory, the network
seems to lock up for close to a minute. I get 64%
