vfs_recycle and permissions
Hi, at our site we are using Samba 4.1.8 as an AD controller and on another machine as member server and all is working fine so far. Now I want to provide recycle repositories for some shares on the member server, so I set vfs objects = acl_xattr recycle recycle:keeptree = yes in the corresponding share sections in smb.conf on the member server. The problem is that the subdirectories created in

vfs_recycle on samba 4.3.9 as DC reset permissions
Hi, I set up an Ubuntu 16.04 machine with samba 4.3.9 as DC. Everything works fine. I created users and groups with the Windows RSAT tools. I also set different group permissions on some shares over Windows. My Problem is now that I tried to enable the samba recycle bin: [mytest] path = /data/samba/mytest read only = No vfs objects = recycle

recycle: ... returned No such file or directory
Hi, recently I see lots of logs like this. I figured, that many have umlaute in their name - but not all. My local FS displays the umlaute correctly - but it is not displayed correctly in the logfiles. Also, when I browse through shares via Windows or MacOSx all files with umlaute seem to be displayed correctly. May 5 08:27:54 Storage-01 smbd[39207]: recycle: stat for

vfs_recycle folder limit management
Hi all, Running SerNet Samba 4.0.9 on CentOS 6.4 serving as an AD DC and fileshare for XP clients. Added recycler per the example at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Frequently_Asked_Questions to my smb.conf. Works great. My concern is that the recycle dir will eventually grow large. vfs_recycle's docs mention a parameter for limiting individual file sizes, but what's a best

vfs_recycle permission bug?!
Hai Marco, Can you check this acl and attr are these installed? type acl type attr Or just run : apt-get install -y acl attr Try this : chmod 1770 /srv/work/.cestino/ Which sets : "creator Owner" (1), Owner (7), Group (7), World (0) So the owner and groups can create anything but your enforcing "creator owner" Then set: recycle:subdir_mode = 1700

2x Samba4 Bugs - "mount error(5): Input/output error" & "recycle: stat for ... AFP_AfpInfo returned No such file or directory"
Hi I'm using Samba version 4.1.7 on the server side. On the Client side is multiple versions - a copy machine Konica Minolta - Windows XP - Windows 7 - Mac OSx (Mavericks) - CentOS (XenServer) all of them get sporadic input output errors. E.g: on a Linux I would get a mount error(5): Input/output error after the first try. And as funny as it sounds, but the second try is a success and

lots of outdated docs
Hi, The web page https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/ must be from the last millenium, it offers a "tarball of the daily docs build" of version 3.3 The manpage for vfs_recycle is even worse, it says: "This man page is correct for version 3.0.25 of the Samba suite." Is there a chance that we can get man pages which describe all options of samba 4.2? Specifically I was looking

(Fwd) vfs_recycle and create mode 770
I'd like to use the recycle as a per machine recycler using the option 'name = .recycle/%m' (because we just use some usernames without passwords, and not because of the adminstrators abilties, but for a better workflow with a lot of different projects and people working on them.) But if a directory is created the vfs recycle uses the rights 700, and i have found no way around it

Undefined references during compiling
I'm attempting to compile the latest samba on an old Mandrake 8.1 system. (Current samba there is 2.2.? and doesn't allow login from XP).
