rid backed not working
Hi All, I'd like start using 'rid' idmap backed rather than 'tdb' on my member servers to keep gidNumbers in sync across the realm INCLUDING the DC. Problem is when I execute member1# getent group "MPD1\group1" I get no output. The gidNumbers fall within the range of 30000-60000. pestparm passes nicely. No erros logged whilst executing getent. Could anyone point me

You cannot, A DC uses idmap.ldb to store xidNumbers (which are in the 3000000 range), you cannot use the 'rid' or 'ad' backend on a DC. On a

Quite a lot, AD relies on DNS, it sounds like the DC cannot find its own records, probably because /etc/hosts isn't setup correctly, you need to have the machines ipaddress and fqdn in

samba-tool drs showrepl Issues After updating to 4.5.15
G'day All, We have a test and production SambaAD running very happily, but they are many versions out of date. We need to upgrade. Both versions of Samba are currently running 4.3.2. Our test SambaAD runs on Centos6 with two DCs running in the same data centre. Our production SambaAD runs on Centos7 with 4 DCs across 4 geographically dispersed data Centres. I went about updating

guest clock
I have numerous problems with my para- and hardware- virtualizated guests. Clock in guests drifts up to many days. Sometimes it happens after xendomains service saves and restores state on reboot, sometimes not, sometimes it happens when I am sleeping :). I use latest fedora 8 with latest updates (I have had problem since fedora 6 ...) My proc settings: /proc/sys/xen/permitted_clock_jitter is

Question about the witness service
Hi, I just want to ask a question related to this part of Samba Wiki: "In order to activate the witness service "rpc start on demand helpers = no" needs to be configured in the global section. At the same time the 'samba-dcerpcd' service needs to be started explicitly, typically with the '--libexec-rpcds' option in order to make all available services usable. One

How to migrate Active Directory from one Samba4 server to another
Hello! We are using a Samba4.0.0alpha19 (Resara 1.1.2) based domain controller in a small production environment and because the Resara development has ended we want to switch to a plain Samba4 beta based Ubuntu 12.04/Zentyal Server. I have installed and configured the new server with the same domain-name and the same hostname like the old server. How can i export the Active Directory from the

From what I thought I did, I named the domain avalon.local. That's what the computers will join to. What does the netbios name have to do with the DC? With folder redirection I end up getting a name like \\localhost.avalon.local\Users\blahblah How much chance of messing up things is there if I run the rename script? Change hostname of the main domain controller of the Active Directory
Hi, With Samba4 and Active Directory the hostname of the server is read during provision, to set the netbios name. It's even asked to set /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts in respect with the chosen domain/realm names. I've seen that on real windows AD that it's possible to change the hostname of the domain controller with netdom command, but is there a way to do so on Samba4 ? The
