Looks about right. That said, you don't need 'client min protocol' on the DC. You need the client max protocol on the domain member and server min protocol on the DC to overlap. join samba 3.6 to ad with samba.411
Hi Louis, it's an old ubuntu 12.04 with samba 3.6.25. It's a fileserver with DRBD and we have to join the server until a new one is ready to use. Migrate DCs on ubuntu 14.04 to ubuntu 18.04
Hi, I'm having the following setup: 3 offices, with at least 2 DCs per office. Every DC is running on ubuntu 14.04 with either samba 4.3.9 or 4.3.11. I'm not the one that build these DCs but from documentation and what I'm told, nothing fancy was done on them, just joined the domain, added users/fileservers and group policy replication as described here:

Linux/Windows Domain Controller
Yes I've red this section and the docu is saying no FL above 2008. Might be caused by incompleted docu? So far I understand if we don't use >4.19 we will not be able to use FL 2016 which is necessary since our DC WIN22 is configured as FL2016? Debian11 Samba backport and bind9
Hi to all, Is there a known problem when using Debian 11 together with the samba packages from the backports (4.17.4) and the bind9 from the backports (9.18). With me it comes on each further Domaincontroller to errors with the "samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names". If I install Bind9 in version 9.16 everything works. I have the whole thing running in a Vagrant environment and can

GPO Entries missing
Hi all I just installed the the ADMX-fils for the Linux-GPOs. IBut when I look at the Group Policy Editor below "samba" I only see "Unix Setting -> Scripts". "smb.conf", "Messages", "sudo-files" are missing. If I take a look at the admx-file itself all the options are in the file. I uses Sernet Samba 4.18.4 on Debian 12 I already did a

ID Mapping
Hi, I have a Samba 4.11.8 system running as an AD and a file server and I am wondering what sort of ID mapping is done in this situation. I have uidNumber on each user set to use UIDs in the 1000 range but I find that they end up in the 3000000 range instead. Is this a fixable problem, or a result of having the file server and DC as the same machine? Thanks. -- Daniel O'Connor "The

Hi Stefan, I have exact that running: Samba 4.17.4 and bind 9.18 from the bullseye-backports. I my case "samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names" runs without any errors. As like 9.16 I use the "dlz_bind9_18.so" entry in named.conf. If you need further information to compare just ask. Connection dropping every 24 hours from Windows Client.
Hello I have a problem with my Windows 10 drive connections dropping every 24 hours, very briefly. It's enough to cause me to be unable to save my file, or access a geodatabase. I have followed much trouble shooting and I believe that its due to the KDC Service ticket lifetime expiring, I have it set for 24 hours in smb.conf. I have a Samba 4.9 DC and an Ubuntu 18.04 member file

Updating Samba AD from 4.1 to latest stable
Hi All, After reading the list for a while I have a question myself. I have the task of upgrading a couple of systems and one of them is the office AD infrastructure from a Samba-4.1 installation to the latest stable version. I already did a concept of proof by incrementally compiling versions 4.2/3/4/5/etc to the then latest stable 4.10 and it seemed to work out OK but was a lot of work. I had a

Disk faillure on DC
Hi all, again, I ask for your help. I have a domain with 2DC's running samba 4.10.6. The disk on the DC holding the FSMO's failed. I recovered most of it from backups, and reinstalled samba hopping to rejoin it to the domain. However, when I try # kinit administrator #samba-tool domain join eurohidra.local DC -Uadministrator I get #Could not find machine account in secrets database: Failed

Choosing the right domain
Hi, I am about to spend one week of my holidays with transfering our (about 20 clients) NT4 domain to a AD DC one. We are running a samba NT4 PDC on debian buster which is offering dns (bind9) and dhcp (isc-dhcpd), too. I have an older server where I can play with an AD DC setup. If I see I won't make it in a week, I would like to be able to return as smooth as possible to the present
