Join 2012 Server to Samba 4.11
Hello Louis, Yes, I do talk about join a 2012 Windows server as a secondary AD-DC, my bad, I wasn't clear enough here. About Samba version, we can assume that it's a Samba 4.11 with 2012 schema. That's quite a good news here, I will test ASAP. I just wanted to know it anybody had problems beforehand; Thanks a lot :) Am?lie Am?lie LE JEUNE, Technicienne syst?mes et r?seaux

Migrate DC from Small Business Server 2011 to Samba 4
Hi, I want to migrate a Windows Small Business Server 2011 domain controller to Samba 4. The SBS2011 has about 40 users and 100 client computers. Also about 50 GPOs are in use. Furthermore there is Exchange running on the SBS and it has to stay there for the next couple of month (it will be replaced by a new mail system later). So far I think I can either try to migrate or start from

Join 2012 Server to Samba 4.11
Hello, with the packages from Louis it works fantastic. Here at work and at home i use Debain 10 with the latest packages from Louis and have i Windows Server 2012 join as a AD-DC. Here is the link of the Samba Wiki that i use to make it happen: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows_2012_Server_compatibility#2012_and_2012_R2_Windows_DC Regards Dirk Am 22.11.19 um 14:16 schrieb Am?lie

Join 2012 Server to Samba 4.11
Hai, Ok, i'll help you re-question this. First of all, are we taling about a join as Member or AD-DC. Members should not give any problems. So (and i hate it) i "assume" ad-dc.. If you want to join the Windows server as AD-DC to a samba domain. Which version is samba is currently running and what is its schema level? And with which samba version as the Samba AD-domain setup.

Migrate DC from Small Business Server 2011 to Samba 4
Hello Thor, >From our experience with one client whom had the same situation as you, we first migrated exchange to another mail system then we migrated the AD part. The SBS version we had to migration only allowed a secondary DC for a fixed period of time . The Exchange mail extensions were properly handled by Samba, even if they weren't used anymore. I don't remember the exact

CELT codec on TI C55x
Hello, I am interested in using the CELT codec for an embedded project around the DSP C55x family from TI. Is this someone has already done? Which is necessary to do that, which compiler, is there a specific configuration ? Is it necessary to have an Operating system to run the CELT codec ? Is it possible to instantiate several times the CELT codec ? Thank you in

WINS problem ? Samba server not found by all workstations
Hi all, I have a small problem here with Samba (version 1.9.18p7, although I upgraded this morning to p8). The server is a Sun Solaris 2.6. The clients are all Windows NT (server & workstations). All the workstations are on a subnet, and the server on another subnet (so broadcast packets are not able to move from a station to the server), so I configured Samba as a WINS server, and all

samba-tool group removemembers, not working
Because of other issues using ADUC, I tried to remove a domain member using: > samba-tool group removemembers "Domain Computers" MARKA\$ Removed members from group Domain Computers As shown, it say it "Removed members", but ... > samba-tool group listmembers "Domain Computers" : LABRAT$ : OHPRSSTORAGE$ MARKA$ : COMMON$ : listmembers still shows the computer

Compiling Samba on Sun Solaris 2.5.1
I just downloaded samba-1.9.18p8 and tried to compile it on Sun Solaris 2.5.1. I found out from the note in Makefile that I can not use the cc compiler coming from Solaris. It requires gcc, but I do not have gcc on my system. Spent about an hour on the Internet, but did not find suitable gcc for Sun Solaris. Can anyone who has compiled samba on Sun Solaris share your experience? Where can I

R talks at LSM 2007
Dear R users and developers, Would any of you be interested in giving a lecture about R and/or R use cases at the following free software conference that takes place in Amiens, France, next summer? We already had a talk on R last year by Yves Croissant (http://2006.rmll.info/theme_26?lang=en) but are still open to any submission this year. We expect some talks this year (to be confirmed) about

Quality and bitrate parameters ?
Hie, I just don't understand one point in the speex's man page about the quality and bitrate settings. Are these settings's behavior same as Vorbis settings ? Quality option set variable bitrate in order to maintain constant quality during file and bitrate option set a defined bitrate , isn't ? I'm not sure, so I'm pleased if you could say that I'm right. A good idea is

Samba replacing NFS
Hi, I have a number of web servers that mount their /htdocs (and /log and /cgi-bin) directories from a large file server. I am currently using NFS for this. The web servers are Linux, the file server a Sun E450. NFS seems dreadfully slow, and I keep reading about how it doesn't do file locking. Is there a good reason not to simply use samba, and share the volumes with samba from the Sun, and

rwhod is naive
It seems that when you send rwhod an rwho packet, it blindly assumes you are who the packet says you are. That is to say, it looks as if any host can inject false rwho data for any other host. I''m not convinced this is worth fixing. Opinions? -- - David A. Holland | VINO project home page: dholland@eecs.harvard.edu | http://www.eecs.harvard.edu/vino

So, at he moment we have three bad choises : - Migrate part of our virtualization services from KVM/libvirt to VMware ; -

Disabling or deleting domain "Administrator" account
Hello, A client is asking about disabling, deleting or renaming the domain "Administrator" account on a Samba AD. I've seen this done on Windows AD domains for security purposes. Assuming the risk of being locked-out is mitigated (i.e. an equivalent user is created and is a member of the same groups), is there any reason this can't be done on a Samba AD as well? Is the

Moving Samba AD DC from one VM host to another: Preauthentication failed
I'm trying to move my current Samba AD DC VM from EXSi vSphere to XenServer (XCP-NG). I was able to export the VM to .OVA file & import it into XCP-NG fine. I was able to open ADUC & the DNS manager in Windows without an issue. But my web server had a lot of these errors in the log & couldn't mount the SMB shares from the file server: kerberos_kinit_password <HOSTNAME>
