Theora Fast Quality Reduction Transcoding
Hi. I have been working on a tool whose goal is to reduce the bit rate of theora video by decoding to DCT coefficients, reducing the entropy of the coefficients, and re-tokenizing the stream. I have successfully used the decoder source to extract the DCT coefficients for each block, and I am able to capture any and all relevant information about where the block of coefficients falls in the

SAMBA 4.7.4 with MIT Keberos
Hello, i installed a SAMBA 4.7.4 AD Server on Ubuntu 18.04 (BETA). SAMBA4 was compiled from source. For MIT Keberos i also installed libkrb5-dev and krb5-kdc and compiled with the "--with-system-mitkrb5" option. The installation runs pretty good (some dependencies problem, solved manually). But now im not able to test kerberos: # kinit administrator --> kinit: Cannot find KDC

Possible to use MIT Kerberos yet?
Hey all, $Dayjob currently uses MIT Kerberos. We also use Zimbra with Kerberos auth, but Zimbra's LDAP is only internal to itself. I see various things on the wiki that say "We need MIT Kerberos support cleaned up for a 4.0 release" https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/MIT_Build https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/MIT_KDC And the "How to build a domain controller"

heidmal to mit adminstrator password expired
Hello, I'm using samba as active directory with heidmal kerberos. I would like to switch to MIT kerberos as this is the implementation my distrib has chosen. I've made my kdc.conf according to these instructions: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Running_a_Samba_AD_DC_with_MIT_Kerberos_KDC But I can't authenticate it seems all my password are expired. kinit administrator at

Samba 4 domain members
Hi there, I would like to setup a Samba 4 member server to act as a separate fileserver within my Samba 4 domain. Does anyone have any recommendations for this setup? I've tried to create one following this: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Domain_Member Which seems to work ok until I try to change any permission on any shares (or anything within the shares). I then get

Samba 4.10.6 for rhel7/centos7 rpms
Hi everyone, I've posted some updated source and binary rpms following the release of updates by the samba project. Updated rpms include samba-4.10.6 and ldb-1.5.5. Here are the links: - http://nova.polymtl.ca/~coyote/dist/samba/samba-4.10.6/RHEL7 As usual, these work fine for me (4.10.6) but YMMV. Please do report issues if you find some. Regards, Vincent

Node behind SonicWall Router
Recently the small business I work at replaced an aging linksys wrt style router with a SonicWall one. Ever since this change I have issues with this node falling back to TCP constantly. TCP for me ends up performing very sub-par, and most of the time unworkable. For some reason too the connection usually ends up being routed through another node. I created a new tinc instance using TAP

SVG showstopper
We seem unable to get SVG running under Rails with apparent memory conflicts between the SVG xml object and parameters. For us, unless we can get SVG running okay under Rails, it is a showstopper for us to use Rails. There seem to be only 2 examples out there for SVG, the graph project that actually converts SVG to another image format (way too cumbersome/unworkable for our needs) and the

spatial statistics on images, any packages?
Hi list, Is there a package that covers the evaluation of spatial statistics on images and not on point data? I've converted an image matrix to x, y coordinates and a measurement value but evaluation with the package spdep (not really designed for image data I suppose) is unworkable. Any suggestions? Registry
Hi, I have an idea and I dont know if its bad or not, so please tell me ;o) There're some windows based applications I need to run but they do need some registry entries. If I choose to export my whole windows registry and import it to wine's registry, should it make wine crash/die/unworkable? MBJr.

CentOS Images on AWS with partitions on /dev/xvda1 are awkwared to resize
I'm staring at the free CentOS images on AWS, and seeing that whoever set those up elected to use a partition for /dev/xvda1 rather than taking advantage of Amazon's tendency to use "/dev/xvda", "/dev/xvdb", etc. for each disk and use those directly as a file system. The result is that if you elect to allocate a larger base disk image, for example allocating 50 Gig to

term duplication among index tables
Greetings all, I have been looking into using Xapian to provide search for email. I have to be very careful about indexing overhead, and I notice that several of the tables use term strings as part of the key or data. I was wondering if there is a performance or complexity reason for not having a separate table mapping term strings to unique numbers, which could then be used in the

How are bricks healed in Debian Jessie 3.11
Hi, How are bricks healed in Debian Jessie 3.11? Is it at the file of block level? The scenario we have in mind is a 2 brick replica volume for storing VM file systems in a self-service IaaS, e.g. OpenNebula. If one of the bricks is off-line for a period of time all the VM files systems will all have been modified when brick comes back on-line. As some of these VM file systems are quite

"utils" lacking namespace?
Hi all, A colleague of mine tried to install the package EMV, which had been removed from CRAN. she ran into some kind of trouble, R locked up, and she closed the program. Now when she starts R, "utils" can't be loaded which of course create an unworkable environment. Below I've copy-pasted the error message she gets when starting R. Any ideas on what went wrong, and more

[RFC] Removing autoconf from trunk
Now that 3.8 is imminently branching with the newly deprecated autoconf I think it is time to propose a process and timeline for removing autoconf support from trunk. At this point I believe there should be no users of autoconf for Clang and LLVM that are not supported by CMake, so I would like to propose dropping autoconf support from the cfe and llvm repositories on January 26th (two weeks from
