Printer desappeared... configuration and backup?
Samba AD domain, composed of different DCs and DMs, someone used (also) as print
server with CUPS, with Point'n'Print (driver loaded server side).
This morning in a site all printers but 1 'desappeared': really the don't desappear,
simply the association between printers and driver get lost someway, so
printer come back to standard CUPS printer name, so clients say that

Thunderbird, CSC and files/folder...
[ I don't think it is a samba trouble, but indeed some clue... ]
A user of mine have a rather complex Thunderbird local folder email
archive, in a network folder (P:\Mail), with CSC enabled (it is a
portable system).
Rather frequently (at least once a week) in the share a 'disk folder' (a
directory) with the same name of the 'file' of the email folder get created.

Winbind, cached logons and 'user persistency'...
I've noted that some weeks ago, but i was upgrading all my PVE cluster
so i've considered it benevolent.
Yesterday i've updated my main switch, disconnecting for a brief lag of
time all my ''infrastructutes''.
My SMTP server (exim) start to complain about 'unroutable addresses':

[OT?] Winexe and recent samba...
Someone out there have compiled successfully winexe with recent (4.5+)
samba version?
I've tried that repository:
https://sourceforge.net/u/markr123/winexe/ci/master/tree/
that seems the latest fork available.
Thanks.

Printer desappeared... configuration and backup?
From my experience when driver associates or re-associates with printer, printer ?shared name? changes.
From a windows client perspective the printer disappears and needs reconnecting.
After re-associating check the shared name.

Simply: i was (ab)used to have, in my NT domain, some aliases for my
servers, so i can change servers (and move services) but keeping things
consistent.
Eg, all my printers are connected to

[OT?] Group Policy, drive maps and Cliend Site Caching...
Sorry for that email, but i'm really confused about the subject.
Starting point: in current configuration (Samba, NT mode) some portable
system have CSC enabled, and when go to another site... is another
site, eg does not fined the domain, so simply CSC 'work'' as expected.
Now that i'm moving computer to the new domain, that is the same domain
across all sites, i'm not

pam_mount in 'newer samba'...
Sorry for a rather 'unifornative' subject, but i've little o no clue on
this.
I'm using at work 'pam_mount' with a rather standard configuration
to mount via CIFS/SMB user's home directory, from a samba AD member
server.
This configuration is a bit 'old' (mint sonya, AKA Ubuntu 16.04 as a
client, so samba 4.3; debian and samba 4.8 as a server), but work

domain. Suppose to have a share, with guest access enabled, where only
readonly access are needed.

User management scripts in AD mode...
I'm testing the upgrade of some domains from NT mode (LDAP backend) to AD mode.
In NT mode i was (ab)used to the smbldap-tools to user management, and
i've also extended a bit to manage, eg, email aliases and forwarding.
Now, in AD mode, i can relay only to samba-tool, and seems to me that
something misses. Apart the 'reset password' in other thread, for
example:
a) i've

No, still glitches for exim/winbind...
No, i don't think this is a configuration error by mine, and still
seems that ''something'' in winbind does not work properly, or at least
in respect to exim.
This late evening i've rebooted all my servers in a site (2DM, 2DC; DM
samba 4.8, DC samba 4.5).
I've firstly rebooted the DM (where one of these is the mail server),
after that, and after verify that all work

I've setup my second DC, following the samba wiki, without major
trouble.
Only three notes:
a) i've followed the suggestion to move idmap.ldb from the first DC to
the second (Rowland! Clap me! I've not sayed 'primary' and
'secondary'! ;-).
After that, as suggested by the wiki, i've done a 'samba-tool ntacl

[OT?] Group Policy, drive maps and Cliend Site Caching...
Hai marco,
I've looked for a good example.
http://www.mustbegeek.com/how-to-map-network-drive-using-group-policy/
Only, i say use \\FQDN\share not \\HOSTNAME\share
Basicly, the above site says, ( the importent part )
Note that drive maps actions are all based on the drive letter.
Action ?Create? and ?Update? will not work if the drive letter already in use.
In this case, the action
