Upgrading samba and OS - can I rejoin ?
And (re)joining is not recommended ? There are so many services and computers connected to the samba server, which are not in my hand. Means after I upgraded all our 5 ADs I would have to inform many people about the new name and IP. Thanks

Upgrading samba and OS - can I rejoin ?
Hai Andrew, I just tested this on 4.10.7 Which resulted in : ERROR(<class 'samba.join.DCJoinException'>): uncaught exception - Can't join, error: Not removing account DC1$ which looks like a Samba DC account matching the password we already have. To override, remove secrets.ldb and secrets.tdb The wiki does not say we have to remove the old the secrets. Report it as

Upgraing a DC using the 'DC rejoin' method
I used the DC rejoin method as described in the WiKi to upgrade one of my DCs to version 4.11.0. Following the steps, when I came to rejoin the domain, it initially failed, complaining that the DC already existed, but to force the rejoin, remove the files: secrets.ldb and secrets.tdb. I assume you don't demote the DC before the upgrade, as there's no mention of this? Anyway, I

Q: Upgrading samba from 4.9 to 4.13
I've been looking at the Sambawiki for notes on upgrading (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Upgrading_a_Samba_AD_DC) The way I read it it is suggested to uninstall samba completely and then essentially re-installing. That seems like a Murphy's Law disaster (with my luck) waiting to happen. Is "upgrading "in-place" a realistic option?
