Migration to Samba.
Hi there. [I just asked this over the irc channel, but since I got no reply, I decided to cross-post here. Please forgive me if that is incorrect] I'm trying to migrate an Active Directory domain (that is being used only for authentication) to a samba3 domain. The network is small enough to rejoin the clients one by one and recreate the user accounts if necessary. However, the new user

Force update of Samba point-and-print drivers?
I hope someone here can offer an easy approach to the following (somewhat simplified) scenario. We have a Samba domain that is running well. We have 10 Samba/CUPS printers and used the Windows Print Wizard method noted on pages 225-226 (section 17.6.1) of the Prentice-Hall-published Official Samba-3 HOWTO to install the drivers. Over time, we learned to pay particular attention the the printer

Problems sharing HP Officejet 6210 Linux --> XP
[cross-posted from www.tek-tips.com] Dear samba forum, I've now wasted most of a weekend on this issue, so now it's time to swallow my pride and ask for help! Background: My main home computer died. I can't afford to replace it right now, so I'm attempting to retread an old AMD PC into a linux print/file server. Clients are a mixed bag of Windows XP home/professional PCs. The

Debian backport of 4.4.5
I tried the Louis Van Belle's Debian backport of Samba 4.4.5 and I observed one obscure behaviour. I am running it on Debian 8.6.0.  I just run Samba as a NT4 PDC and do simple file sharing.  When my server is rebooted, my PCs cannot see the domain.  Everything seems fine when I checked the status of the Samba using "/etc/init.d/samba status".  However once I restart Samba

Samba AD with Microsoft Account
In a related problem. I've tried linking my Office365 account. I get through the sign-in process but when it is attempting to link the device I can an error message stating: *We weren't able to register your device and add your account to Windows. Your access to org resources may be limited.* The domain account I am logged in with is part of the Domain Admins group so I don't think

Problem joining XP SP2 Machines to the domain
Hey All: I've got a working samba/ldap domain with a PDC in a datacenter and a BDC in my local office. I'm not able to reliably join a windows XP Pro machine to the domain by specifying the PDC as a wins server. I get the following error 90% of the time or more, with no discernible patterns or errors in any logs: --------------------------------- The following error occurred attempting

GlusterFS, Pacemaker, OCF resource agents on CentOS 7
Hi guys I'm wondering if anyone here is using the GlusterFS OCF resource agents with Pacemaker on CentOS 7? yum install centos-release-gluster yum install glusterfs-server glusterfs-resource-agents The reason I ask is that there seem to be a few problems with them on 3.10, but these problems are so severe that I'm struggling to believe I'm not just doing something wrong. I created

Practical limit on dial prefixes for a route
Colleagues, We're in the process of standardizing on Sprint PCS and Cingular phones on a national basis (~ 50 properties, 1000's of lines). I manage an Asterisk install at one location. I've been looking at the Multitech CellFinder CDMA for Sprint as a dial backup solution. Basically, it's a CDMA to POTS gateway, tied to a PCS account. We would see it as a trunk line and I

summary( prcomp(*, tol = .) ) -- and 'rank.'
Following from the R-help thread of March 22 on "Memory usage in prcomp", I've started looking into adding an optional 'rank.' argument to prcomp allowing to more efficiently get only a few PCs instead of the full p PCs, say when p = 1000 and you know you only want 5 PCs. (https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2016-March/437228.html As it was mentioned, we already

I agree with Kasper, this is a 'big' issue. Does your method of taking only n PCs reduce the load on memory? The new addition to the summary looks like a good idea, but Proportion of Variance as you describe it may be confusing to new users. Am I correct in saying Proportion of variance describes the amount of variance with respect to the number of components the user chooses to show? So

Large number of prefixes in a route to a trunk
We're beginning to test MultiTech's CallFinder CDMA Units, one for Sprint PCS and one for Alltel. They sell both. Our intent is to use them as a backup line for our main office (which has a PRI) and a backup/911 line for our remote offices which are all connected via * over a VPN with no local trunks at any of them. In the interest of maximizing use of the lines, I'm putting

WINS clients fail to release/refresh records with Samba WINS server after reboot
Hi all, We are running Samba 3.0.2a and using it as a domain controller and WINS server. After rebooting the server, we are unable to reach (i.e. looking up machines by name) some of our network PCs (Windows 2000 boxes), due to failure with WINS look up. I investigated the wins.db file, and those Win boxes are not listed in there. If I use the command "nbtstat -RR" on those PCs to
