Thank you very much for your reply. Oh sorry, I forgot that: Here's my smb.conf for Samba 4.9.4-Debian fileserver. I'm running samba with a different Samba-DC (i replaced my domain with samdom): [global] security = ADS workgroup = samdom realm = samdom.domain.tld log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log log level = 1 idmap config * : backend = tdb idmap config * : range = 3000-7999 idmap config

Permissions not inherited when moving a file
Hello Samba list subscribers, i have a permission issue when moving files or directories (rename syscall) between directories with different permissions in my share. I'm using POSIX ACLs on my shares. These are my users: user.one (uid: 101111, gid: 101111) SAMDOM\Domain Users (gid: 100513) I've got the following directories: This is the private (home) directory of user.one. The user

Permissions not inherited when moving a file
Thank you very much for your reply. Beside the fact that we can't use Windows ACLs because we need the posix acls for a different service, are you sure, that Windows ACLs would fix this issue? The ntacls are stored in the xattr of the file itself. When you now move the file to a different location the xattr should stay the same and the user still doesn't have the right permissions to

Samba 4 AD share: Access denied
I have been using Samba4 for ages and love it as a DC and a print-server. I just setup my first member-server designed solely to host file shares, and have hit an issue. Group policy is mapping it correctly for the users in the group, but those users are getting an access denied message from their Windows 7 Pro 64bit clients when accessing the share. I have configured ACLs and the box

Computer accounts belonging to groups, using winbind on file server
Hi All, Some time ago I reluctantly moved DC functionality off my file server and onto a separate machine, due to the well-known challenges using the same machine as both a file server and a DC. This went mostly fine, with one exception - I have one piece of functionality that worked before, but I still don't have working now. I use wpkg for software distribution, having all relevant

file permissions with inherit permission + ACL's
Hi, I have a share (testshare) where different unix groups (testgroup1, testgroup2) should have access to. But I want that new files are only created with 660 permissions. Here are the ACL's of testshare: # file: testshare # owner: ralfgro # group: ve user::rwx group::rwx group:testgroup1:rwx group:testgroup2:rwx mask::rwx other::--- default:user::rwx default:group::---

wbinfo not resolving SID to username
I suspect there's something wrong in wbinfo on a freshly installed Samba AD Domain Controller on Ubuntu 18.04 server. wbinfo does not resolve Windows SID to usernames: # wbinfo -S S-1-5-21-299502267-616249376-1417001333-14107 3000103 I should see "SAMDOM\username" instead of "3000103", right? getfacls has the same behavior: # getfacl /var/lib/samba/sysvol # file:

Samba 4.5.3 AD DC - issues with sysvol when setting up Group Policies
Also, I'm not sure whether this has any relevance to the problem but I did at one point try to set up a secondary AD server but was struggling to get it going so demoted it using "Demote an Offline Domain Controller" from this page https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Demote_a_Samba_AD_DC I also went through the "Verifying the Demotion" checks on this page and all looked
