allow trusted domains ... howto specifiy domains?
I am running a samba pdc on host "debianpdc" for domain "linuxdom" and
have set "allow trusted domains = yes" in my [global] smb.conf file... now
how do I specify which domains to trust?
I would like to trust an NT4 domain "nt4dom" run by the host "nt4pdc" on
the same network.

SOLVED: Must a Samba PDC use LDAP for nss?
Hi All,
It seems like Samba 3 does require the PDC to use LDAP for nss when using
ldapsam.
I reconfigured Solaris 9 to use nss_ldap and 'getent group' now shows the
posixGroups created by the 'net rpc vampire' operation. I then cleaned up
the LDAP database and ran vampire again. Each group is created
successfully with incrementing gidNumber 10000 onward. 'net groupmap

[OT]Web-Based Data Brushing
I apologize for the off-topic post, but my Google search did not turn
up much and I thought people on this list my have knowledge of this.
I am looking for examples of data brushing (i.e. dynmaic linked
plots) either on a web site, or in a web-based application, such as
an AJAX app. Even better if there is a way to do this in R.
Thanks for any help.

Error IIS
HI!
The strange thing is that the problem (error in the logs) only runs when
the authentication trigger comes from IIS ....
Not the problem in DC, authentication via Windows machines or Winbind
(other servers) all working.
What procedures do you want to help? Do we procdir some data loss or
something?
Which procedure to open the bug?
Thank you.

Problem with heaps of sleeping smb processes due to panic action
Hi!
We're running Samba4 (Version 4.0.0beta4) and are experiencing problems with smb_panic actions which result in loads of sleep processes in the end taking down the entire machine. This problem did not exist in prior builds for us (upgraded from alpha17 to beta3 and then beta4). Are there any specific log extracts I can supply that can help someone pinpoint the problem? log.smbd seems to

Samba 3 Beta3 using LDAP and NT4 Migrate
Hi,
I am trying a test of migrating a NT4 Domain to Samba 3 Beta 3 configured to
use LDAP on Redhat 8. Is this possible?
Details
-------
I previously had Beta 2 on LDAP running as it's own domain controller
without problem and could create users (in LDAP) with smbpasswd -a. XP
clients could join and login OK.
Now I have flushed that setup and have loaded Beta 3 configured to use LDAP,

"Random" crashes of Samba as AD DC
Hey all,
up until 2 weeks ago my samba DC was running just fine, then it began crashing randomly.
I was using 4.8.0 before, now upgraded to a self-compiled 4.8.3 with default build parameters on an up-to-date centos 7.5 with disabled SELinux and bind9 as DNS backend with samba_dlz.
The log output at log level = 10 is as follows:

valid users with AD group
Hello all, hope all is well/happy holidays
Issues with an old thread out there, valid users containing an AD group
Have tried this on systems running cent7u2 and ubuntu trusty. These systems
are running sssd. I can login with AD users and chown/chgrp file with AD
groups. However, I can't get AD groups to work with valid users for
restricting share access. If I just set individual AD users,

Hello,
I have configured an samba AD DC for use with
some windows and linux machines. The linux machines use
samba for user auth and also as kerberos kdc for
nfs mounts. This works fine so far but after a while
the user can not access the nfs shares anymore.
I tried to analyze the problem and finally found, that

restrict shares listings in domain to authenticated users
I'm setting up a samba primary domain controller in Debian woody and the
users are logging into the domain fine and can access their shares. I
would like to restrict the listings of available shares to only
authenticated users of the samba domain. I know this works in a win NT4
domain, how does one do it with samba?
This is the listing I get from an nt4 pdc (belongs to a different domain

list + lapply insead of matrix + apply
I need to develop a simple list manipulation. Although it seems easier to
do it in matrix form, but I need it in list form.
I have a matrix
x <- matrix(c(12.1, 3.44, 0.1, 3, 12, 33.1, 1.1, 23), nrow=2)
for list form example, the conversion is
x.list <- lapply(seq_len(nrow(x)), function(i) x[i,])

Maybe, but it "worked". Can we speculate what change in 4.10.x prompted
Samba to export "Unix user\username" type of ownership to Windows clients
instead of SID? Is there any option to revert to previous "wrong" behavior
as a temporary workaround?
