DNS Update Failed
Hi I disabled even the windows server firewall to see if this is what it was blocking, but it didn't solve it. There appear to be Kerberos key errors, but the kinit administrator command works correctly. /usr/sbin/samba_dnsupdate:; TSIG error with server: tsig verify failure Regards, M?rcio Bacci Em sex, 2 de ago de 2019 ?s 15:51, Marcio Demetrio Bacci < marciobacci at gmail.com>

RPC server is unavailable when using ADUC
Hello. We're running Samba 4.3.9 AD on two Ubuntu 16.04 LTS machines. I'm managing AD users and DNS from Windows 10 joined to the domain, by using ADUC. Last week I noticed the following error when starting ADUC as Administrator of the AD domain: ---- Naming information cannot be located because: The RPC server is unavailable. Contact your system administrator to verify that your domain

RNDC errors using SAMBA_INTERNAL_DNS
Hi all, I've set up a simple domain using Samba 4.4.2 from source under Ubuntu 16.04. I accepted the usual defaults and basically followed wiki.samba.org to the letter. The main thing is I'm using Samba's internal DNS and not Bind (Bind is not even installed on the system). In the log.samba file on the first DC I kept getting this: [2016/04/28 17:01:02.716292, 0]

Joined a second DC, some glitches...
I've setup my second DC, following the samba wiki, without major trouble. Only three notes: a) i've followed the suggestion to move idmap.ldb from the first DC to the second (Rowland! Clap me! I've not sayed 'primary' and 'secondary'! ;-). After that, as suggested by the wiki, i've done a 'samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset' but: root at vdcpp1:~# samba-tool

FW: samba_kcc issue after joining the domain as a DC
I'm sorry, after double-checking the Louis's link I've found that the domain zone should be domain-wide, while the _msdcs stuff should be forest wide. I'll change it and try again. Apologies. >>>>> # samba-tool dns zonelist 172.26.1.81 >>>>> Password for [administrator at domain.com]: >>>>> 2 zone(s) found >>>>>

Bind9 doesn't updated - TSIG error with server: tsig verify failure
Hi Rowland, I've added 'dns update command' on global section of smb.conf file and I've configured namesever on '/etc/resolv.conf' as 127.0.0.1 (I've tried with 'kings' IP address too), but I don't know if this has worked. I've seen some dns updates errors on 'systemctl status samba-ad-dc' though the same command has returned status 'Active

After upgrade to 4.9.4, internal DNS no longer working
The two systems I'm referring to are on different domains, different locations. No connection whatsoever except me being the one administering both. According to oEMInformation the server was provisioned by 4.3.3. I just checked the Samba log file and it seems that version 4.7.4 was running before the update. I'm now looking at the logs right before the upgrade and indeed, there have

Horrible BIND9_DLZ DNS breakage after DC replaced and samba-tool domain demote --remove-other-dead-server
In addition with Rowlands comment. I suggest you try /etc/hosts add only 127.0.0.1 localhost Now type Hostname -f Hostname -s Hostname -d Hostname -I Are these all correct? > No, Edit resolv.conf domain samba.ifa.net search samba.ifa.net ifa.net nameserver 127.0.0.1 What happens now if you try the above command. Correct? Yes => correct your hosts and resolv.conf No || \/

Samba AD-DC on FreeBSD-12.1 Jail
I decided to scrap everything and restart from the very beginning. I created a new jail. I installed samba410 samba-nsupdate py37-dnspython as these are current. I provisioned a domain: samba-tool domain provision --adminpass=INstall166 --dns-backend=SAMBA_INTERNAL --dnspass=INstall166 --domain=BROCKLEY --host-name=SMB4-1 --host-ip=192.168.8.166 --option="bind interfaces only=yes"

Bind9 doesn't updated - TSIG error with server: tsig verify failure
Hi Rowland, I've done how you have said and I've set nameserver on '/etc/resolv.conf' file as 'king' IP (10.41.20.67) and add 'dns update command = /usr/sbin/samba_dnsupdate --use-samba-tool' on '/usr/local/samba/etc/smb.conf' file. I've still seen samba_dnsupdate fails on 'systemctl status samba-ad-dc'. Is there other way to check if dns

you can upgrade from 4.7 to 4.9. but you must run samba-tool dbcheck that should work also. after the check run samba-tool dbcheck --reindex Main difference, a few depends and there versions. debian has tracker 1.0, ubuntu tracker 2.0 for example.
