That is halfway there, so lets ask the second question in a different way ;-)

In that case.
apt-get update
apt-get remove samba winbind --autoremove
apt-get dist-upgrade --autoremove
apt-get install samba winbind libnss-winbind libpam-winbind tdb-tools
apt-get dist-upgrade --autoremove --purge
As long as you dont use --purge, everything of samba will stay on the system and you able to install the buster version.

Upgrading from Debian Stretch to Buster, Van Belle package
Ah, ok,
apt-get remove libldb1 ldb-tools
Then try again : apt install samba winbind acl
The replacement of libldb1 to libldb2 is missing something.
I'll have a look at that.

Louis

Required to Build Samba
The wiki:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Package_Dependencies_Required_to_Build_Samba
Debian / Ubuntu
These 2 packages are not available for 18.04 but are for 16.04
python-gpgme python3-gpgme
Does this mean you can't build on 18.04? I assume so.
I assume this is okay: Note, selecting 'perl-modules-5.26' instead of 'perl-modules'

messy replication
I've summerized a bit..
And i saw Rowland also answered already.
Below is anonimized, but it shows, 2 completely different server setups.
I really suggest you setup your AD-DC's the same.
To summ up.
DC1
Samba is running as an AD DC but 'winbindd' is NOT running.
You running SSSD on the AD-DC, which is not supported.
Your using a really out-dated OS..
