Transfer FSMO roles [SEC=UNOFFICIAL]
UNOFFICIAL
Hi,
I am running an old SAMBA DC (Bilbo) that I want to upgrade. I installed the latest version of SAMBA 4 on an old PC (jimbo) and joined the domain. I intend to transfer the FSMO roles, upgrade Bilbo and transfer the roles back.
I have transferred all roles except domaindns and forestdns. Jimbo says that these roles have no owner but Bilbo thinks it is the owner.
Is there some way

continuing broken pipe problems
Hello all -
I am running rsync 2.5.6 on two FreeBSD 5.0 machines. I have experimented
with running rsync using ssh, with command lines like the following:
rsync -rv --progress jimbo@192.68.100.10:/usr/share/smbshare
/usr/home/jimbo
And also with running rsync as a daemon on the master server, and syncing to
it from the other machine like so:
rsync -rv --progress 192.168.100.10::test

deleting folders containing subfolders with thunderbird (mbox format) bug
When using Thunderbird (dovecot-0.99.13-3.FC3) on Fedora connecting to
dovecot-0.99.13-3.FC3 I am having problems deleting folders which have
been created with the 'Allow your new folder to contain: Folders only'

The folder appears to get deleted but upon restarting Thunderbird the
folder still appears to be there but clicking on it I get the error:

Homedir maps (+small patch)
Hello,
I have following setup: User homedir are on server B and I have samba
running on server A and B (B is dec/osf1, A is HPUX).
In Luke's reply to "Spiros B" (tue 12 aug 97) he said:

multiple definitions in C code
There is a problem in MacOS X with multiple definitions of the same
symbol in different files that will be put into the same bundle or
dynamic library by the dynamic linker. It occurs, for example, in
the rpart package, which includes rpart.h in all its source files,
and rpart.h has definitions of a structure rp and functions rp_init
and so on. I think the same problem occurs in the grid package

dovecot-auth failed: Not enough space
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Dear all,
I've been trying to get a Dovecot IMAP service running under HP-UX
11.23, IA64. The system has 6GB of spare space under /var and at least
the same amount of RAM free at the current time.
I've compiled from the latest source (1.2.4), using the following options:

Creating samba4/AD users from ADUC
We have a couple Samba4 AD domains we've implemented and I've noticed a
difference between how users look when created via ADUC versus samba-tool.
Created via ADUC, the following extra attributes are added:
msSFU30Name: bilbo
msSFU30NisDomain: netdirect
unixHomeDirectory: /home/bilbo
unixUserPassword: ABCD!efgh12345$67890
Created via samba-tool, the following extra attributes are added:

Help with Samba 2.2.8.0 to 3.0.4.0
Hello. I'm trying to convert a Samba server from 2.2.8.0 on AIX 4.3.3 to
Samba Version 3.0.4.0 on AIX version 5.2.0. I have listed my smb.conf
file from the old version below and was hoping someone could point to
the changes I'll need to make on the newer version. Thanks so much
Right now, the users are verified against an NT Domain and I'd like to
keep it that way.
I really

Samba 3.0.4 Profile Permissions
When attempting to login to my Samba 3.0.4 PDC from a Windows XP client as a
user with administrative priveleges (in this case, the user is a member of
the adm group in Linux and all members of that group are members of the
Adminstrators group in Windows) I get the following error:

Problem with adding printer drivers in Windows XP
I know this question has been asked quite a few times from the archive,
but nothing in the previous posts seems to help my setup. I currently
have samba 3.0.21c running on Slackware with CUPS as the printing
conduit. It's setup as a PDC as can be seen from the smb.conf file
below. I cannot, no matter what I've tried, get the server to allow me
to add printer drivers to a printer

need API doc to develop a radio client
Hi,
Can you please share a sample code which fetches the station list from the
> Icecast server and can play a station.
>
I am attaching a very basic, bare-bone example in Python which:
- fetches the XML file
- converts it into a DOM object
- loops over it, extracting for each station it's server name, URL, bitrate
and genre.
To play a URL, just feed it to the underlying player.

Netlogon
Hi,
I've just configure my Samba 3.0.7 as a PDC with an LDAP-based backend. Everthing seems fine except that my logon.bat is unable to execute when my users login to their XP. If I manually run //bilbo/netlogon/logon.bat on XP, the script will run without any problems. Is this purely a samba problem or it is due to my ldap configuration? Do I need to include ntconfig.POL in the netlogon

samba 3.0.0 Authentication with NTsp4
We have been running Samba 2.2.x for some time without problems.
Servers are Solaris 2.7 and RH Linux.
Clients are a mix of WinNTsp4 and Win2K.
Server setting is for plaintext (un-encryted passwords).
On upgrading the Samba server to 3.0.0, (smb.conf file unchanged):
All WinNt clients fail to authenticare.
Win2k clients authenticate correctly.
On reverting back to Samba 2.2.x, all cleints

Wifi Driver Broadcom BCM4322 not working with Centos 7.2
Hi,
I've been using in the past the broadcom wifi card BCM4322 with Centos 7.1
one in the past, with kernel 3.10.0-229.7.2.el7 and driver 6_30_223_248 and
it worked well.
Now I updated Centos to 7.2 and the driver is not compiling any more under
kernel 3.10.0-327.3.1.el7. Neither driver 6_30_223_238 nor 6_30_223_271.
Does any body experienced the same issues?
Cheers,

Skype 4.3.0.37 on Centos 7
Hi,
Does anybody tried to install Skype on Centos 7.2?
It is giving a segmentation fault when you start it. I installed using the
nux repository and the fedora rpm.
Cheers,

Linux printing to NT printer
Hi, I am using redhat 5.1 and want to print to an hp722c on a NT 4.0 box
with service pack 3 installed. The printer works fine locally. I have
created
a win-printer spooler on the redhat machine as a SMB printer to a share
on
the NT machine called //bob/hp720. I created a printer on the NT
machine
called hp720 and shared it off as hp720 with the permissions everyone
