WinbinD no longer available in Samba 4.7.6
Hello, Using Samba 4.7.6 (from standard repository) on Ubuntu 18.04. After recent update, winbind failed to update, until I disabled it (it didn't start anyway). When run as # winbindd -d 9 -i it prints in the end: server role = 'active directory domain controller' not compatible with running the winbindd binary. You should start 'samba' instead, and it will control

Samba 4: 'Access denied' error when accessing user profile during logon
Hello, After joining Windows 7 to a Samba 4 (AD), when logging on I experience 'Access denied' error accessing user profile. As a result, Windows creates temporary profile for the domain user (the profile is deleted upon logoff). The roaming profiles directory has been created according to instructions in https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Roaming_Windows_User_Profiles Note: the home

Authenticating against Samba 4 AD LDAP service
Also: -H ldap://10.100.0.4 should probably be ldaps://URI You can potentially this in smb.conf, but that is definitely not recommended. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configuring_LDAP_over_SSL_(LDAPS)_on_a_Samba_AD_DC Kris Lou klou at themusiclink.net On Wed, Sep 5, 2018 at 2:10 AM, Rowland Penny via samba < samba at lists.samba.org> wrote: > On Wed, 05 Sep 2018 15:46:04 +0700

Authenticating against Samba 4 AD LDAP service
Hello, One of Samba 3 -> Samba 4 migration task I am solving is changing authentication against new Samba 4 AD domain. Existing services use LDAP directory of Samba 3 to authenticate. The simplest way to go would be just to replace LDAP credentials; however, I don't quite understand which LDAP credentials to use/how to create them for Samba 4 AD. Sample command against Samba 4 LDAP

Windows 10 temporary profile error, when domain remote profile directory exists and is empty
Hello, The below happens with Samba 4.7.* (didn't checked with other Samba 4 versions): Setup: Samba 4.7.* AD, two domain controllers, 'computer A' and 'computer B' are Windows 10 domain members. 1. A user (login 'username') logs in into domain for the first time, on a 'computer A'. Samba DC doesn't find existing profile directory and creates an empty
