authentication failures
I got authentication (bind credentials) working for account2 on the old
DC (Samba 4.0.9):
CN=account1,CN=Users,DC=matrixscience,DC=co,DC=uk ---> OK
CN=account2,CN=Users,DC=matrixscience,DC=co,DC=uk ---> FAIL
MATRIXSCIENCE.CO.UK\account1 ---> OK
MATRIXSCIENCE.CO.UK\account2 ---> OK
but it's still failing on the new DC (Samba 4.5.16):

Dovecot and Mail.app
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I'm trying to convert a courier-imap installation over to using
Dovecot, but I'm having some problems with Mail.app on OS X. FTR, we
use both Mail.app and Thunderbird. Note that in the Mail.app
preferences, I have a blank IMAP Path Prefix. I'm using Dovecot
1.0_rc15 on Gentoo, and Mail.app from OS X 10.4.8, Thunderbird 1.5.0.9.

Ugh - half connected Win 7 machines to Samba 4.1.18 AD
I have been at my wits end now since Sunday trying to debug an issue
that occurred when I tried to update from sernet-samba-4.1.18 to
sernet-samba-4.2.2 on my small network. I have one administrator account
and two user accounts which I will call account1 and account2. Before I
updated I was able to login into any of 3 Windows 7 Professional boxes
and 5 linux boxes running CentOS 6.6 using

Switch from courier to dovecot
I have an courier IMAP server running. To get sib dirs working I had to
rename them all to begin with a period ".".
e.g
Maildir
Maildir/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.account1/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.account2/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.account3/{cur,new,tmp}
etc
If I uninstall Courier and install dovecot, will these "period" dirs be
seen by default?
I am fairly new to this and

Unable to access AD with ADExplorer
Hi,
I have a test AD running Samba on Ubuntu that I sometimes poke with Sysinternal's ADExplorer.
A few days ago I tried connecting to it, but got a short reply of "The directory service is not available."
As it was working earlier, I tried finding the problem.
After installing a few older releases, I found that it was working on Ubuntu 17.04, Samba 4.5.8 and stopped working on

Duplicate mail for forwards (dovecot+postfix+postfixadmin)
Dovecot 1.2.11, using postfixAdmin 2.3 to manage, basically using the
postfixadmin schema and sql queries during install.
- If I set a forward for an account to go to a remote email address, no dupes.
- If I set a forward for an account to go to an email address on the
same system, I get a dupe in the inbox of the second address.
So if account1 at domain.com has account2 at domain.com as a

Samba4 on Ubuntu server
New to linux and new to Samba so any direction in troubleshooting would be
helpful. Here is what I have so far.
Within a half an hour of a reboot of the server my cpu reaches high numbers
and becomes slow to respond on all actions. With my limited understanding I
have used vmstat to observe the system. I noticed is that the numbers of
forks grows from 1-2k to 43k within 30 minutes after reboot. I

Fwd: Unable to change passwords from Win XP Pro clients
Thank you Rowland!!
Sorry about my ignorance. I guess I tried many different things and
polluted the smb.conf file.
I've removed every single line you mentioned off my smb.conf. Still the
problem persists:

e911
One of my providers has a different SIP account for each number.
I have all of my users in one outbound context (caller ID passes fine).
How do I ensure that the callers get routed down their correct SIP account with my provider for e911 purposes without each having their own context?

Problem registering two (and more) sip trunks
Hi,
I'm having a problem trying to register sip trunks.
I using asterisk 1.4.39.1, freepbx 2.5.2 in centos 5.5 and I'm trying to
configure several sip accounts from my provider. The accounts are
individually configured as sip trunks.
With only one account everything is ok, it registers and I can make and
receive calls.
My problem is when I try to put more accounts, it seems to start

Multiple SIPGate accounts.
Hi all,
I have two sipgate accounts (numbers), if I have both accounts register only
one will work for incoming calls (which is all i'm interested in). However
if I disable either account the other account will work perfectly. Am I
missing something obvious?
Thanks in advance,
Ray.

Performance-Tuning
Hi,
I have > 11 TB hard used Mailstorage, saved als maildir in ext3 on HP EVA.
I always wanted to make some mesurements about several influences to the
performance (switch to ext4, switch to mdbox), but I never had enough time
to do that.
At the moment I *need* more speed, we have too much waitI/O on the system
and I already used all other performance and tuning-tricks (separated cache,

Multiple Maildirs per Virtual User
How would it be possible to configure dovecot (2.0.16) in such a way
that it would serve several maildirs (e.g., INBOX, INBOX.Drafts,
INBOX.Sent, forum_email, [Gmail].Trash, etc.) per virtual user?
I am only able to specify a single maildir, but I want all maildirs in
/home/my-username/mail/account1/ to be served.
e.g., /etc/dovecot/passwd:

Samba 4.17 Cannot join Win7 clients to domain
Hi Davor,
thanks for the answer. They were actually part of a NT4 domain called
mayweg.net (the new realm name). But I did join workgroup "WORKGROUP"
before I tried to join the new domain.
If it's possible that they're sending the information the wrong way because
they were part of a workgroup named after the new realm, is there any way
to clear the old data (apart from a new

Samba ad dc | Squid Auth
Hello,
Me again. I greatly appreciate the help. I'm sorry for my English, I'm
trying to improve it.
I am trying to connect Squid (Pfsense) to the Samba4 LDAP. I suspect
that the error is in the filters, I do not completely understand where
I should trace the error.

NT Group to single unix ID
Hello Samba Gurus,
I have been searching for a week for a solution to this problem
with no resolution thus far. I have a need to map an NT Group
(a large group of NT users) to a single unix user ID. I guess
I am asking for an example of the smb.conf and users.map file.
We have hundreds of NT users in various user groups. For example.
Example:
