Undefined methods: has_selector? and flunk
I''m in the process of updating an app for Rails 3.0 and rspec-rails
2.0.0.beta20. When I''m running my specs (rake spec) I get a large number
of errors caused by two undefined methods
undefined method `has_selector?'' for #<String:0x7fdbd0b5b270>

Cucumber and fixtures/FixtureReplacement
Hey guys,
I''d never used RSpec Stories before, so I decided to follow the
apparent direction of the wind and just jump right into cucumber. I''m
dabbling with/using Cucumber and really like it. Good job, aslak!
Where i''m struggling right now is using either fixtures or a model
factory methodology like the FixtureReplacement. In both cases, I''m

RSpec 2 view example: render_template
On http://github.com/rspec/rspec-rails under "View specs" there''s an
example
describe "events/index.html.erb" do
it "renders _event partial for each event" do
assign(:events, [stub_model(Event), stub_model(Event)])
render
view.should render_template(:partial => "_event", :count => 2)
end
end
Is this indeed correct? From the

Example for attr_accessible?
Is anyone out there writing specs to check attr_accessible fields? I had
originally written my spec to check for allowing the desired fields, and
then none of the other regular db fields. Unfortunately this isn''t
satisfactory, because attr_protected could have been used instead, which
of course wouldn''t prevent mass assignment to any whatever=(val) method.
I''m thinking

Cucumber/Webrat/Selenium + SSL?
Has anybody had any luck getting Cucumber, Webrat and Selenium to play
nicely together for SSL sites?
My test environment:

back-end
- mongrel back-end accepting normal HTTP requests
- application routes configured with ":protocol => ''https''" so that

Webrat 0.1.0 released - Ruby Acceptance Testing for Web applications
Hey guys,
We developed this plugin while writing my first real set of RSpec
stories. It''s still missing a lot of functionality, but it''s useful to
us as is, so I''m shipping 0.1.0. (Patches welcome. :) )
Code is available at: http://svn.eastmedia.net/public/plugins/webrat/
What do you think?

rspec 1.3.2, Rails 2.3.14 - plugins not loading
Hi there
I have a weird situation. I have inherited a project in Rails 1.2.3
that has been upgraded to Rails 2.3.14 (and is running). I have
installed Cucumber and Rspec to start to write features/tests for the
new code that needs to be written. In my Gemfile, these Gems are
loaded:
group :test do
gem ''rspec-rails'', ''~> 1.3.4'', :require =>

Controller spec: testing that scope is set
In a Rails controller I set the scope on a model class in an around
filter. I have defined expectations on the model classes, and ideally, I
would add a further expectation for the scope. Is this already possible
in some way? How would I go about adding support a scope expectation?

Scenarios Plugin Pre-Announcement
This is sort of a pre-announcement for a Rails plugin my friend Adam
Williams and I are working on. We''re in the process of extracting it
from a project we are working on so that it can be generally useful to
the Rails community. We are calling it "Scenarios". It is a drop in
replacement for Rails fixtures:

response.should have_text leads to undefined method `has_text?'

RSpec 2/Rails 3 - content_for in view specs
My main layout includes separate content_for/yield sections for my header,
sidebar, footer, and content. However, when running a view spec, the
`rendered` variable seems to only contain a string of just the primary
content and ignores the header/footer/sidebar as well as the rest of my
layout file (the "render" call just returns my primary content wrapped in
generic <html> and

Any news on the rSpec books?
I admit it, when it comes to rSpec, I''m lazy. I''ve made a few feeble
attempts to use it, but for once I''m waiting for a book-length
treatment. At least two books were announced, I think. Can anyone in
the know please report on their progress?
Thanks

Validation Reflection plugin
The validation reflection plugin adds three things
(1) Reflective access to validations
- ModelClass.reflect_on_all_validations
- ModelClass.reflect_on_validations_for(:property)
(2) It provides "declarative" methods for defining
validations based on database metadata
- validates_presence_of_mandatory_content_columns
- validates_lengths_of_string_attributes

Unit testing
Recently, I''ve started to write unit tests for some of my scripts. In
general,it''s no worse in JavaScript than in Ruby or Java. I didn''t have
the courage to try Selenium, but had a look at JsUnit. Unfortunately,
in Konqueror it produces unfathomable errors and in Firefox it is slow
beyond imagination.
Anyway, writing tests for functions that are computational or
