GPO issues - getting SYSVOL cleaned up again
new thread, old issue
been fiddling off-list with tips from Louis over the last days, and
putting it back to the list to ask for help from others:
2 samba-4.9.11 DCs
1 samba-4.8.12 DM file server
GPOs not working cleanly anymore
tried to resync completely etc etc

right now I test gpupdate/gpresult on an older (not productive) W2008R2
server which I use for editing stuff via RSAT/MMC

Any event id for this one?
If its event id : 1110.
Open CMD box, type ipconfig /all
And post the result.
I suppect one of the following.
1) pc cloned without sysprep, so multiple pc's with same SID.
2) wrong DNS-Domain suffix
3) wrong DNS-Search suffix
Test this by remove you pc from domain, add it again, reboot.
Login with the same user.

GPOs not Working!
now, im on a phone and no browser, so limit help.

CN=Bj”rn <User>,CN=Users,DC=rootrudi,DC=de
Bj”rn ?
is your system set to utf8?
i dont know, but this does not look right.
i see, wifi? yes, try utp.
langsame Verbindung:500 kbps
and do try the ignore systemacl.
that solves the user/group “nt authority\system” problems the easy way.

ldbrename does not rename container users CN=Deleted Objects
Hello everybody.
When a user or group account is deleted, the user or group account is moved
to CN=Deleted Objects,DC=domain,DC=com
I can find them with the command:
ldbsearch -H ldap://localhost --show-deleted "cn=*DEL:*" -U administrator
Password for [DOMAIN\administrator]:
# record 1
dn: CN=user1\0ADEL:f53b71f8-a3e8-4997-bd84-5504235d3b31,CN=Deleted

ldbrename does not rename container users CN=Deleted Objects
Sadly the AD recycle bin isn't known to be reliably working in Samba.
The main effect that was noticed is that for some reason when enabled,
from memory, it caused the object to vanish almost instantly, rather
than remain as a tombstone for a time (eg, it did the opposite).
I've had investigating this properly on my wish-list for some time, but
it is one of those annoying tasks that I

GPO issues - getting SYSVOL cleaned up again
One more i found is :
http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/145171-event-id-1053-group-policy.html
But i dont expect that to be your problem, just do checkit.
And review these steps
https://www.dell.com/support/article/nl/nl/nldhs1/sln163816/troubleshooting-group-policy-processing-errors-in-an-active-directory-domain?lang=en
I can type it all, but then you get more typo's ;-)

It had been working up to Samba 4.8 and with the recyclebin active you
could restore every attributre, but since 4.9 it's not working anymore

The problem is that renaming a user on Linux works the opposite way to
Windows and neither renames everything.
If you rename on Linux with ldbrename, it renames dn, cn,

restore deleted user (ldbrename) on samba 4.9.1 fails
sorry it's not working any more. At least if you have more then one DC.
I didn't get an answer to this problem so that's the reason why it will
not be part of the new samba4 book :-(

Hi All,
I create a Samba domain and works it's great, the issue that I have is with the GPO's.When applying GPO's then only the computer Policy is applied and not the user GPO. I keep on receiving below error.
Has anybody else perhaps been experiencing the same issues?

restore deleted user (ldbrename) on samba 4.9.1 fails
Dear list,
I am trying to restore an deleted user object with samba 4.9.1 (sernet
packages). I am aware that the object will lose some attributes without
recycle bin enabled (enabling it is still not recommended, right?)
I tried to rename the object in order to make the necessary
modifications afterward (as documented in Stefan Kania's Samba 4 book).
But ldbrename already fails.

GPO Computer settings not applied
Hello,
I'm having one strange issue with latest stable Samba 4.0.4. I'm testing it as a domain controller for two virtual machines.
The Samba AD DC is Debian stable, with two domain members - Windows XP Pro and trial Windows 8 Enterprise.
User configuration using GPOs is working as expected. However, Computer configuration is never applied properly. Event logs show this entry:

GPOs don't work after update from Samba4.0 alpha 17 to 4.0.1
Hi!
I have updated our server from Samba 4 alpha 17 to Samba 4.0.1.
Everything seems to work fine after some reconfiguration, but our
GPOs are not working anymore.
Samba 4 alpha 17 was using ntvfs and the root partition with the sysvol share was mounted with "user_xattr" only in /etc/fstab.
Samba 4.0.1 is now set to use s3fs and the root partition is mouted with

netbios name = CCDC-SAMBA4
