Problems with Samba 4.6.3 Authentication
For got to mention. If you dont have any certificates setup and not using tls. Set on the DC's. ldap server require strong auth = allow_sasl_over_tls Or ldap server require strong auth = no And you may need to enable NTLM v1 on the proxy also, but thats why i recommends kerberos auth. SO preffered imo, try to avoid any NTLM to improve your security. For NTLM v1 then you

Access shares from DNS alias
Hello, I have setup a Samba 4 ADDC following the tutorial in the wiki. I need it to be a DC and a fileserver. Everything works fine and dandy except that I cannot access the file shares via a DNS alias, instead of the original hostname/DNS name. And I need this for various reasons, enough to halt going live with it if it doesn't work. :-( When accessing via the machine's fqdn

Win10 cant connect to DomainController
Hai basti, Few tips here you can check/try. A know problem, this might happen if your primary dns and/or search dns are not correct when connected to the VPN. See if you can use \\host.dnsdomain.tld\share and not \\host\share Then test \\dnsdomain.tld\sysvol and \\dc.dnsdomain.tld\sysvol Last, if you trying to access through CNAME, you might have hit this bug.

split horizon and authoritative answers..?
Hai, Have you ever tried this with a systemd networking setup. I suggest you try this, this at least helped me with some split dns issues. Below shows how i did it. Configure you network with system, the configs.. #/etc/systemd/network/lan-dev.network # # Configure global settings in /etc/systemd/*.conf # # Dont forget : rm /etc/resolv.conf && ln -s /run/systemd/resolve/resolv.conf

Intermittent permission denied when accessing share
About the root problem of the thread, it seems a permission problem, but again I need some help on how to investigate further. I've just been reported a share wasn't accessible, I checked on another client and I was able to enter the folder but NOT to see the content, looked like empty. I have "hide unreadable" enabled, and while entering the share several times I noticed the

Intermittent permission denied when accessing share
Thanks for the suggestions! > The latter is easiest to deal with, replace it with a CNAME in the AD dns. I did the CNAME, but when I remove the netbios alias I can see the shares list when accessing \\aliasname, but then I'm not allowed into any of them. I tried rebooting the client but same result, and I also don't see anything in the logs :( > The first will require a bit more

Thanks for your time. Now,  wbinfo -G 13010 and wbinfo -Y work. But I still don't see any domain users in getent passwd, and wbinfo --user-sids=S-1-5-21-2816186202-4468957523-2022743653-4403 still fails with getusersids S-1-5-21-2816186202-4468957523-2022743653-4403 [2019/05/03 15:50:51.978858,  3, pid=910, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0), class=winbind]

Hai, wbinfo -Y S-1-5-21-2816186202-4468957523-2022743653-513 Does this resolve? You should see "domain users" And your missing your primary dnsdomain. samba dlz. bind9 nslookup is wrong
That is because your resolving setup is wrong. You problem starts here. Checking file: /etc/resolv.conf search patrikx3.com search corifeus.com search p3x-dc.patrikx3.com The first 2 will do nothing, only last will be used that setup. You want : search p3x-dc.patrikx3.com patrikx3.com corifeus.com But still thats not needed, you only need. search p3x-dc.patrikx3.com Because the other

split horizon and authoritative answers..?
I need to implement split horizon DNS, as I have just one external IP address (dynamic.lindenberg.one in external DNS) but multiple internal ones. External requests are distributed by port or using sniproxy (in particular 443), and all externally visible names are in a distinct zone then my domain, but with an additional indirection: names like backup.lindenberg.one resolve to CNAME
