"WARNING: failed verification -- update retained (will try again)" message
Hi there! On a daily backup script, I am getting a lot of these messages: WARNING: <filename> -- update retained (will try again). I've tried googling, but i can't figure out what these messages exactly mean and how i can solve them. Any hint? I think a network trace would tell us for use whether the server is responding or not. You can follow the instruction here to make one: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Bug_Reporting#cifs.ko -- Aurélien Aptel / SUSE Labs Samba Team GPG: 1839 CB5F 9F5B FB9B AA97 8C99 03C8 A49B 521B D5D3 SUSE Linux GmbH, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Felix Imendörffer, Mary Higgins, Sri Rasiah

gwenview WITHOUT nepomuk
Does anyone know how to make gwenview *not* try to use nepomuk? I liked it under 5.x, but in 6.x it *constantly* complains about things like tagging is not enabled... but won't open, when I log in, with gwenview running and showing the same picture I'd logged out on. Then there are the random crashes.... Don't need a "semantic" desktop, I know what things are, where they

Weird update problem
For some time now updates on my CentOS box had skipped exiv2. Yesterday I decided to do something about it, so I removed it - together with gwenview, digikam and, IIRC, libexiv2. That sounded reasonable, so I accepted the removal, then re-installed gwenview and digikam, which, of course, pulled in the two exiv2 packages. The version number of exiv2 sounded familiar, but I assumed that it

picture viewers
Ok, I give up. After the last month or so, gwenview takes literally five minutes or so to come up, gagging because I have nepomuk turned off in kde. Today, it just will not come up at all, even trying gwenview pic.jpg. Are there any other ->light weight<- image viewers in the standard repositories, including epel? I DO NOT WANT OR NEED a "semantic desktop" (aka bloat, suitable for

Wine Opens Everything by Default
Hi, Recently after downloading Wine and trying to open files, Wine has been opening everything by default. For example, when I used to open Pictures it used to use one of Linux's image viewers like Gwenview. However, after downloading Wine it's been using Wine, then opens up Internet Explorer, and then opens up the picture. The same goes for text files. When I try to open a text file,

CentOS for non-tech user
I'm thinking of giving CentOS to a non-tech user for her new desktop. He needs are small. She has been used to Mozilla for both mail and browsing, so equivalents there are not a problem. She needs grip and lame, for her mp3s - again no problem. In fact the only problem I can see is that gwenview doesn't appear to have the kipi-plugins. I can see libkipi listed, but no plugins,

1st static IPv6 address
My ISP assigned prefix is: 2607:F4B8:3::/48 So I am building my internal IPv6 firewall/router/ etc. I want to have a static IPv6 address on its eth0 so that I can create static v6 routes to it from the gateway. I add the following lines to ifcfg-eth0: HWADDR=00:40:F4:05:A8:F1 IPV6INIT=yes IPV6_AUTOCONF=no IPV6ADDR="2607:F4B8:3:1" if-up eth0 gets the error: Error: an inet prefix

IPv6 static routing
So I do not want to run radvd on my public subnet (between the gateway and firewall). I am trying to set up the firewall's public interface. For now in ifcfg-eth0 I have the lines: DEVICE=eth0 BOOTPROTO=static HWADDR=00:40:F4:05:A8:F1 IPV6INIT=yes IPV6_AUTOCONF=no IPV6ADDR="2607:F4B8:3:1:0:40:F405:A8F1" ONBOOT=yes And in network I have: NETWORKING=yes NETWORKING_IPV6=yes

The problem with this is that when I choose 'view in containter' it no longer selects the appropriate file. Does anyone know how to change it back? I'm using C7 with KDE Gary
