Filelocking Issue in 4.18.11

I guess the nodes end up using different combinations of dev/inode as
primary key for the locking.tdb record. Probably because the device
numbers differ on the nodes and you didn't fix this known issue with

Enable async journals
Hi all,
we use SLES 11 and Lustre 1.8.1.1 + patches and like convert a lustre FS
using external journals to one with async journals enabled.
Question is whether the procedure:
umount <filesystem> on all clients
umount <osts> on all OSSes
e2fsck <ost-device> on all OSSes for all all OSTs
tune2fs -O ^has_journal <ost-device> on all

"Random" crashes of Samba as AD DC
Hey all,
up until 2 weeks ago my samba DC was running just fine, then it began crashing randomly.
I was using 4.8.0 before, now upgraded to a self-compiled 4.8.3 with default build parameters on an up-to-date centos 7.5 with disabled SELinux and bind9 as DNS backend with samba_dlz.
The log output at log level = 10 is as follows:

Hai Felix,
It might be handy to show the line your using for dfree.
And could you tell us the OS and samba version your using.
Last, is this on a member and/or AD-DC ?

Filelocking Issue in 4.18.11
Hi folks,
we are running a clustered Samba Fileserver using CTDB with two public IPs. We observed the following (mis) behavior:
If user A with write permissions opens an excel file via public ip A and User B opens the same file via public ip B, both users get a Deny-Write lock on the same file and overwrite each others changes:

ACL Anomaly with vfs_acl_xattr on ocfs2 volumes running on ubuntu 18.04
Hello everyone,
we are running a CTDB cluster and share folders on ocfs2 volumes via
samba using the vfs acl_xattr to store acls in extended attributes. It
works fine with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I'm currently testing 18.04 and have a
weird (but reproducable) ACL behaviour: I grant two users a and user b
full access on a folder from a windows client. (Share permissions are

AIX lastlog change
Hi David,
I'm sure loginfailed(..) should be called immediately after
authenticate(..) returned an error. It is directly related
to an invalid password try. (Please see my attached mail from May 2001

I'm not so sure when loginsuccess(..) should be called

how to use a samba patch
Hi!
Sorry for this question, but I didn`t find the answere in the
documentation or the web.
I use samba 3.0.8 on a SuSE linux 8.2.
Now, I have found a patch for samba <= 3.0.9
( samba-3.0.9-CAN-2004-1154.patch on www.samba.org)
I have the old source-files from my samba 3.0.8.
Also I know that you need the tool "patch" to install the patch. But how? in which directory must I

Virtio-disk with driver from Microsoft from 2006 ?
Hi,
i wanted to benchmark a windows guest, compare standard driver and virtio driver.
I installed the domain first with an IDE disk.
I followed https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Paravirtualized_Block_Drivers_for_Windows to install the virtIO driver.
In the device manager my VirtIO disk is recognized as a VirtIO SCSI disk from RedHat which seems ok for me.
But the driver is, following the device

problems with understanding of the memory parameters in the xml file
Hi guys,
despite reading hours and hours in the internet i'm still struggling with
"memory", "currentmemory" and "maxMemory".
Maybe you can help me to sort it out.
My idea is that a guest has an initial value of memory (which "memory" seems to be) when booting.
We have some Windows 10 guests which calculate some stuff and i would like to increase

Cannot share MSAccess DB after upgrade 3.0.5 to 3.0.8
This is really strange.
The samba server in question is a domain member server
on a Windows NT 4.0 Domain network. It runs Gentoo
2004.3 with a 2.4.24 kernel.
The Gentoo server was upgraded from Samba 3.0.5 to
3.0.8 last night. After the upgrade, the server had
to be re-joined to the domain. After that, everything
appeared to be working.
This morning we found that the MSAccess database files

smb, vmware trouble?
Dear all
We are using a definition of rules which has perfectly worked with SuSE8.2 and
vmware and a local samba on some clients.
The systems got an update to 9.2.
Now we got a very strange problem which probably could belong to an firewall
definition problem.
After booting of the system the samba connection to vmware works perfect but a
few hours later it isn''t possible to copy a
