Managing samba ad dc with systemd
Hi Louis,
I've modify my /etc/systemd/system/samba-ad-dc file following your advice,
I only changed bind9.service to named.service (I've run samba on CentOS 7
with Bind9_DLZ). I've checked again if there are others smbd, nmbd,
winbindd an samba services on systemd, but they there aren't. The
samba-ad-dc service still to fail when I've tried stop it. I've installed

Managing samba ad dc with systemd
Hai Igor,
No, that not normal, and this is and old bug in the start/stop.
Entered after samba started to use preforking i believe.
See the Unit setup below.
Note, i added bind9.service here, because i use bind and i want bind to start before samba-ad.
Just keep it there, if you change you samba to samba+bind_dlz, then you services are starting in the correct order.

Bind9 doesn't updated - TSIG error with server: tsig verify failure
Hi Rowland,
Before to add 'dns update command = /usr/sbin/samba_dnsupdate
--use-samba-tool' I've tried once to run 'samba_dnsupdate --verbose
--all-names' and it has returned me TSIG error again. More precisely, 'TSIG
error with server: tsig verify failure'

Bind9 doesn't updated - TSIG error with server: tsig verify failure
Hi Rowland,
I've added 'dns update command' on global section of smb.conf file and I've
configured namesever on '/etc/resolv.conf' as 127.0.0.1 (I've tried with
'kings' IP address too), but I don't know if this has worked. I've seen
some dns updates errors on 'systemctl status samba-ad-dc' though the same
command has returned status 'Active

I haven't done anything to install MIT Kerberos and I've followed wiki to
install Samba with your default Kerberos. Then I believe that I use Heimdal

I've installed EPEL repository to install python3 and other dependencies
such as python36-dns. I can run

smbd do not start
Hello all;
I am installing samba4 (version 4.9.5) on Debian 10.5 to use it as a member of a samba4 AD DC domain (version 4.11.4). I am following the guide https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_a_Domain_Member but I am having problems starting samba.
So far I have installed the necessary packages listed here

Issue with "ExecStartPost" attribute in systemd daemon faile
Hello,
I'm trying to configure a daemon (I'm doing tests with "crond" daemon) to send me an email after daemon restart. My "crond.service" file is:

Funny current debian service files use a wrong PIDFile path (should be
/var/run/amba/samba.pid).
If I use Type=forking and an wrong PIDFile systemctl start samba must be
CTRL-C'ed.
Type=notify works with or without an proper PIDFile.

Migrating to Samba 4.9.4 AD, kinit administrator -> kinit: Cannot contact any KDC for realm...
Hi there
I have migrated from an older version of Samba DC to Samba 4.9.4 AD.
Running Centos 7. One server with everything on... (AD and file server)
Bind 9.9.4
Built from source.
Followed directions in the wiki.
All seems to go fine, but when I startup samba-ad-dc it shows a few errors.
([kdc failed to setup interfaces])
The initial tests (in the directions in wiki) go fine until I get to

Thanks Andrew.
One more problem solved, as I discovered last thing yesterday there
was a missing "[Install]". Using your copy of the httpd service I
cut-and-pasted it onto the end of the service file you'd given me
earlier and at last was able to load the service. It wouldn't run,
but at least it was some progress.
I ran

Rowland,
If I stop one of the DC's the other will run fine.
The non-running DC when "samba -i" complains that it cannot communicate
with the other DC.
Running "systemctl start samba=ad=dc.service" has the same cannot connect
to other DC.
If I stop the running DC with "systemctl stop samba-ad-dc.service" and
start the second DC with "systemctl start

Bind9 doesn't updated - TSIG error with server: tsig verify failure
Hi Rowland,
I've done how you have said and I've set nameserver on '/etc/resolv.conf'
file as 'king' IP (10.41.20.67) and add 'dns update command =
/usr/sbin/samba_dnsupdate --use-samba-tool' on
'/usr/local/samba/etc/smb.conf' file. I've still seen samba_dnsupdate fails
on 'systemctl status samba-ad-dc'. Is there other way to check if dns
