Is possible use BIND9 as DNS Back End on a new Samba DC?
Rowland,
My configure line is ./configure --enable-debug --enable-selftest
--with-systemd.
A hour ago, I ignored the inconsistency that I reported in the first e-mail
of this topic and I proceeded as described at topic "Joining a Samba DC to
an Existing Active Directory" and I joined new DC with command:
samba-tool domain join mydomain.com DC -U"MYDOMAIN\administrator"

Is possible use BIND9 as DNS Back End on a new Samba DC?
I'm sorry to I forgot answer appropriate.
I'm running CentOS 7 with all packages upgraded. I've followed instruction
in
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Package_Dependencies_Required_to_Build_Samba
with
some need modifications (yum line is bellow this text) and I've installed
python 3.4. I've installed Bind9 from package manager where Bind9 version
is 9.9.4.

Is possible use BIND9 as DNS Back End on a new Samba DC?
Rowland,
I've done almost all permissions change, I forgot bind-dns directory. Now,
the named service still doesn't start and journalctl -xe showed me that
this occurs because permission denied to run dlz_bind9_9.so. I've checked
out and the lib and directory /usr/local/samba/lib/bind9/ have execute
permission to named group. The output of ls command, journalctl -xe and

Which DNS to use for DHCP hostname/IP updates from non-AD & AD nodes?
I am considering which DNS implementation and cannot determine exactly
when someone should use the Bind9 manner with BIND9_DLZ Module.
For my purposes, I will have AD and non-AD nodes on the network using
either DHCP or static IP addresses. Some will be Windows & Linux clients
joined on the Samba AD domain for logins. Some will be Windows & Linux
clients that are standalone using

Managing samba ad dc with systemd
Hi,
I have a question about samba 4 with systemd. I've followed the "Managing
the Samba AD DC Service Using Systemd" and I've created
/etc/systemd/system/samba-ad-dc.service file with the following content:
[Unit]
Description=Samba Active Directory Domain Controller
After=network.target remote-fs.target nss-lookup.target
[Service]

Managing samba ad dc with systemd
Hi Louis,
I've modify my /etc/systemd/system/samba-ad-dc file following your advice,
I only changed bind9.service to named.service (I've run samba on CentOS 7
with Bind9_DLZ). I've checked again if there are others smbd, nmbd,
winbindd an samba services on systemd, but they there aren't. The
samba-ad-dc service still to fail when I've tried stop it. I've installed

Hi,

I followed, but there are instructions in this tutorial to configure
Bind9_DLZ first, as below:
- Set up and configure the BIND9_DLZ back end. For details, see BIND9_DLZ
Back End <https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/BIND9_DLZ_DNS_Back_End>.

Problems with Internal DNS Samba 4
Hi,
I have updated my DC's to Samba 4.10.7, but I still can't add a new DC to
the domain. I believe the problem is with Samba Internal DNS.
So I would like to convert my DNS from Internal DNS to Bind9_DLZ of the
production DC's. Then I will join a new DC to the domain to see if it works.
I checked the tutorials:

Internal DNS migrate to Bind9_DLZ
Hello,
I hope that someone can perhaps assist me or just guide me in the right
direction.
I've been following all the steps for setting up and migrating my Samba
Internal DNS to Bind9_DLZ.
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_BIND_DNS_Server
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/BIND9_DLZ_DNS_Back_End
But this doesn't seem to work for me, I can get bind started up 100% when I

bind-dns Folder Missing for Samba4 Setup in Ubuntu
I am trying to setup samba to use the bind9 backend, but a folder is
missing in Samba, according to the WIKI page. This seems to be consistent,
as there are several files and folders that are not where they should be,
according to the wiki:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/BIND9_DLZ_DNS_Back_End
That page says there should be a folder at /usr/local/samba/bind-dns, but
it's not there. I've

Currently, we have at my job a Samba 4 AD DC with 2 DC are running over
Samba 4.1.11 version. I know both servers are out date. I want to update
this version to the latest version (4.9.3), but I'm not confident about the
process to do it. I've read on wiki.samba.org that is recommended read all
release notes to version x.x.0 and all release notes the latest version you

Failed to re-index objectSid after botched DLZ back-end update
Alright, I'm taking the plunge: We're switching our three AD DCs from Samba internal to BIND_DLZ back end.
I needed a version of BIND with DLZ, as it appears support for that is not so ubiquitous.
I went here first: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Using_BIND_DLZ_backend_with_secured_/_signed_DNS_updates
We use Ubuntu 14.04 here, and the Debian/Ubuntu instructions fail on apt-get
