Offline logon from Winxp/2000 Client doesn't work
Hello, I've installed samba 3.0.24 recently and since then I cannot login on my Windowsclients if they are disconnected. If I have a connection everything is fine. I'm at a loss what else to do. The only hints for offline logons I've found all refer to the use of samba with ADS. I have only one samba server in my network(no winbind). The clients are unchanged to my prior

WinbinD no longer available in Samba 4.7.6
Hello, Using Samba 4.7.6 (from standard repository) on Ubuntu 18.04. After recent update, winbind failed to update, until I disabled it (it didn't start anyway). When run as # winbindd -d 9 -i it prints in the end: server role = 'active directory domain controller' not compatible with running the winbindd binary. You should start 'samba' instead, and it will control

Samba share not working: getpwuid(1000) failed, Failed to finalize nt token & NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL
I have a small home network with server and 5 clients all on an internal LAN with private IPs. Samba, Version 4.7.6-Ubuntu, file sharing is not working on the server for any of the 5 clients. I have tried both mount.cifs and smbclient. The same errors are thrown in the server's samba logs for all connection attempts, regardless of how the client tries to connect: getpwuid(1000) failed,

Linux Mint 19.1, Samba 4.7.6 & WIndows 10
Have a Linux Mint 19.1 with Samba 4.7.6 installed. Plan is to use this as a file server. Cannot connect from Windows 10. Win 10 sees the share but says group name could not be found. Everything worked on the previous Ubuntu machine. Any thoughts on where I should look? Tom Thomas Rieff GreenCare 1717 3rd Avenue Mankato, MN 56001

Samba 4: 'Access denied' error when accessing user profile during logon
Hello, After joining Windows 7 to a Samba 4 (AD), when logging on I experience 'Access denied' error accessing user profile. As a result, Windows creates temporary profile for the domain user (the profile is deleted upon logoff). The roaming profiles directory has been created according to instructions in https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Roaming_Windows_User_Profiles Note: the home

Shared printing between Linux (client) and Windows (server): NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
I have a Windows 7 workstation with physically connected printer and Linux laptop (Linux Mint 19). They are connected to each other via router with internet cord plugged in. I managed to establish file exchange between them: create a shared resource on one computer, then access it from another. But the same trick with printer just do not work: as soon as I try to access it via network from

Winbind cache
Hi all, we are having some troubles with the integration of some Solaris 9 Sparc servers on a Windows 2003 Server Active Directory domain. When we made the tests on a Solaris 9 Intel server, everything run successfully. After that we run some group membership tests, just changing users from one to another group on the W2K3 Server. We've seen on those tests that winbind was caching the

Not Obeying "require_membership_of" winbind.so when "User must change password at next logon"
Okay, so I have an Active Directory server running on Windows Server 2012 Standard I have configured Samba/Kerberos/Winbind on Ubuntu 13.04 to bind to the DC properly. I am able to login with my Active Directory users credentials. When I use the 'require_membership_of' option in pam.d/common-auth for winbind.so using the SID of the group I want to restrict access to, it works like a charm.

Directories with rights granted to everybody are always accessible. Rights were granted from within Windows 7 to a unix-group named "g_all".
