Thanks for the replys...
Just a basic samba server...being accessed by windows 7 to the gc and tmr shares with \\10.10.171.9\gc and \\10.10.171.9\tmr
This has been running for a year without any issues...till the update yesterday afternoon :-(
The file server is Ubuntu 18.04 and there was an update to Ubuntu 18.04.1, which I thought would be a mild step.
The current version of samba is...

Question about AD user/ACL mapping
We have updated our long-standing Samba install on a Solaris 8 box to
3.0.24 and are interested in making use of the Windows ACL mapping
capabilities to help take over a Windows share. However, there is a
snag - the pre-existing box has usernames that differ from people's
Windows logins, i.e. their Unix login is freddy, and their Windows
login is fred_smith.
I have our AD domain membership

You should remove the '@' from the 'valid user'.
Does the user 'gc55_data2' exist on the Linux Mint machine & on the

I know that the group 'gc55_data2' will not exist on the Windows
machine, but does it exist on the Linux Mint machine ?

Linux Mint 19.1, Samba 4.7.6 & WIndows 10
Have a Linux Mint 19.1 with Samba 4.7.6 installed.
Plan is to use this as a file server.
Cannot connect from Windows 10.
Win 10 sees the share but says group name could not be found.
Everything worked on the previous Ubuntu machine.
Any thoughts on where I should look?

Connecting with Windows 10???
Samba Guru's,
As a point of clarification in our Samba setup...
We are currently running Samba 4.3.11 on Ubuntu Server 16.04.
When running smbstatus it shows the following...
Windows 7 machines connect showing SMB2_10.
Windows 10 machines connect showing Unknown (0x0311).
Supposedly Windows 10 machines should show SMB3_11.
Curious if they are connecting correctly and/or if changes

Permissions
Rowland,
Thanks for the response.
We are using win 7 on desktop pc's and Ubuntu 16.04 w/Samba.
Do you have any sample config's for 'vfs_accl_xattr' for Windows.
My issue may be more about file locking than permissions???

smbclient: tdb_fetch_uint32 failed
hi all,
I'm facing a problem with a brand new installation on fedora 9.
packages were updated right after the installation, so the samba
packages are of the latest available version (3.2.0-17.fc9).
at the first run were created all the tree of tdb files under
/var/lib/samba.
now I create a new user:

Cups issue - keeps re-writing cupsd.conf and mime.types
Hi,
My Centos 4.4 server at home is serving a Samsung SCX-4521F printer,
which the *nix and Win clients connect to through ipp. Every so often
(maybe once a month), the cupsd.conf and mime.types files are updated,
which makes the printer unavailable to the clients.
My fix so far has been to stop cups, overwrite the files with
cupsd.conf.working and mime.types.working (these are backup files of

Where to get libcapi20 ?
Hallo wine-users,
I'm new to wine and to this list.
During configuration I got the message that libcapi20 could
not be found. I did not worry about that, thinking it was an
ISDN thing and I don't use ISDN.
But now I have to run a Windows application which insists on
using libcapi20 :(
I have been searching with Google, but not been able to find
any sources for it.
Could somebody please

iscsi connection drop, comes back in seconds, then deadlock in cluster
Greetings ocfs2 folks,
A client is experiencing some random deadlock issues within a cluster,
wondering if anyone can point us in the right direction. The iSCSI
connection seemed to have dropped on one node briefly, ultimately
several hours later landing us in a complete deadlock scenario where
multiple nodes (Node 7 and Node 8) had to be panic'd (by hand - they
didn't ever panic on

smbd hanging at BDC
Hi all
I have a samba pdc(master LDAP Server) with 1 BDC(slave ldap server), the
version of Samba at PDC and BDC is samba 3.0.21c. At BDC , there are some
shares declared. The shares are used to store Fox pro files. The client uses
foxpro and opens DBF file in the share declared.
and also Roaming profiles is also used at BDC. The problem is samba hangs
frequently. Once rebooted works for some

Node fence on RHEL4 machine running 1.2.8-2
Hello,
We have a four-node RHEL4 RAC cluster running OCFS2 version 1.2.8-2 and
the 2.6.9-67.0.4hugemem kernel. The cluster has been really stable since
we upgraded to 1.2.8-2 early this year, but this morning, one of the
nodes fenced and rebooted itself, and I wonder if anyone could glance at
the below remote syslogs and offer an opinion as to why.
First, here's the output of
