Automaticaly unlock files
Hi all,
I've been looking for an answer for this issue but Google didn't help. So I
resource to the next best thing: the Samba mailing list.
Question: Is there a way to automaticaly, after a certain amount of time,
unlock a file after, for example, a client crash or network problem?
I know how to do it manually of course, but that is, well, cumbersome.

Hi Samba users,
I have a Samba server with a single share backed by a ZFS pool / collection
of datasets. I can correctly navigate around the share, but the free space
reporting within clients is inaccurate for various directories, especially
those that are themselves setup as datasets in ZFS and have quota applied

Automaticaly unlock files
Ah, a workaround!
I'd seen something like this on an old thread but I've always tried to stay
away from socket options.
I'll give these a try.
Thanks for your help
P.S.: strange that I don't see more people "complaining" about this....
Best regards,
Carlos

Sorry to step in, but SO_SNDBUF and SO_RCVBUF are almost always bad for
performance, unless you know *EXACTLY* what you're doing at a packet
level. A general

CIFS Null Session Vulnerability Fix in Samba 3.5.10
Hi Volker,
Reaching to RedHat is not the option for me right now, could you please
tell me are there any configuration parameters in smb.conf which will avoid
issuing NULL or Anonymous connections or sessions.

"File is in use" error when I have one folder with content selected from one client and try to delete from other and both are OSX clients
Hi all,
I have a debian jessie server with sernet samba 4.2.8 installed.
The problem is when I try to delete a folder with content at the same time
that a client is selecting the same folder. In the first client give the
error because of the file is in use(the folder) but deletes all the content
and in a second time with the folder empty I can delete the folder fine.
I have other problem but I

I have Samba server 3.5.10 running on RHEL 5.8 platform and it has joined

to AD Security by stating " CIFS Null Session Vulnerability Fix via GPO -
Security Requirement". After this change, my windows clients are not
authenticating with domain credentials while accessing the shares, but

SAMBA with IPv4/IPv6 dual stack
Good day
I would like to setup a SMB file server and DC that uses IPv4 and IPv6 dual
stack.
However I see certain problems; for instance, when the IPv6 prefix is
dynamic, this means the IPv6 of the DC would also dynamically change.
Is there something special I should consider when provisioning a SAMBA AD
DC with IPv6, or will it "just work" ?
Thanks,
best

How to use ldapsam only for authentication?
Hello,

it is only a standalone server, no sid/gid (mapping) needed. All users
and groups are local (passwd/groups) maintained.
We only want to authenticate the users against the ldap server
(openDJ). No Active Directory is used.
But if I configure, there are a lot (to much) ldap

poor samba performance with many smaller files
The directory is small, it contains only one file. stat() takes 15ms and if
I read 1000 files it sums to 15 seconds. So the issue is really that open
file is synchronous.

Fruit/AAPL behavior
I have a share with approximately 5000 folders in the base directory. The
performance on an OS X client is somewhat less than exciting. I compiled
the latest Samba 4.3 tarball and enabled fruit per the modules man page,
however directory listing performance still takes a few seconds.
I've cranked the fruit debug level up to 10 and can see that it is getting

Samba on AIX - Active directory
Good afternoon,
I have many AIX clients running samba from pware. I want to move to either the version on the AIX expansion pack or the rpm's IBM suggests we download, https://www-01.ibm.com/marketing/iwm/iwm/web/reg/pick.do?source=aixbp&lang=en_US
The problem is that the samba version from pware that is working is old and I don't see the pware downloads anymore to upgrade to a
