samba-tool provision error
Hi, It looks like samba is having trouble reading the smb.conf file, so I'd suggest double-checking that. From memory, I think you can get this exception if the smb.conf file exists, but cannot be parsed correctly. I think the default location of the smb.conf can vary depending on distro/compilation/etc. On ubuntu the default location is /usr/local/samba/etc/smb.conf. You could try using

samba 4.10.0 - problem with samba-tool domain provision
Hi, I am currently installing Samba 4.10.0 on a CentOS7 test system facing problems with the provisioning of AD. I built samba from source; configure/make/make install finished successfully. When running the "samba-tool domain provision" command I get the following error messages: [root at geo22 ~]# samba-tool domain provision --use-rfc2307 --interactive WARNING: Ignoring invalid value

samba-tool crashes if include = /patch/to/%U.conf in smb.conf
Hi, Samba4 (4.1.9) on Ubuntu 12.04 here (seen same behavior on 4.1.6 on Ubuntu 14.04). I've encountered an annoying bug with samba-tool, some exceptions aren't caught causing the tool to crash if it finds something it doesn't like in the smb.conf. I have a specific line in my conf : "include = /etc/samba/%U.smb.conf ", it's useful for applying specific samba

Hi, The ldapsearch message is because you can't connect by plain text (-x) by default . Try using https, that should do it. Does smbclient -L SERVERDOM -U Administrator work? Or does it give NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE as well? if you increase the log level, do you see "Unable to convert SID (S-1-X-XXX) at index X in user token to a GID." in your log files? Em

"00002020: Operation unavailable without authentication" using python-ldap
Thanks for the example, Rowland. Does ldb work against remote servers as well? I thought it was only for local, file-based access. In general, I just wanted to use my Samba AD as an environment to learn more about writing software against using LDAP. There are a few applications I'm planning to develop, and I'd like to use actual LDAP so they could be applicable to Samba or Microsoft AD

Samba4: where are ACLs stored?
Hi, most file access rights sync between ACLs of linux and the security tab of windows file properties, but not all. Where are the other infos stored? I tried in linux 'getfattr -d' and 'samba-tool ntacl get', but neither output changed when using windows to add individual right for a user that already has rights inherited from the parent directory. Windows remembers every

Samba firts DC fail over
Hello, I am currently testing for Samba4. The creation of the domain and the secondary Dc implementation works well. But by performing tests for a fail over situation I realized that when the DC that created the domain is in fail over the linux client machine can no longer retrieve the list of users from the domain. I would like to know if a person has already faced this situation and if so how he

python: listing samba shares
I've been googling that for a long time, but couldn't find an answer. I also checked the python-samba Debian (ubuntu) package contents and even compiled samba 4.0.0 alpha8, and checked its python libraries, but couldn't find anything regarding viewing the shares contents there. Is it possible to list samba shares and their contents of a particular host?
