Map user home dir using GPO failing
Hello, I am trying to auto create and mount home directories using a GPO, as per https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/User_Home_Folders. I currently have home directories being created, through the use of pam_mkhomedir.so. with 'obey pam restrictions = yes' in my smb.conf file. I have also setup the share permissions and Windows ACLs as per the above link. Unfortunately, even though the

how to automatically create the home directory
Customer asks why [home] doesn't work for a new AD user, turns out the linux directory doesn't exist on the DM server How to let that directory be created? GPO? I find this: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/User_Home_Folders#Using_Active_Directory_Users_and_Computers but the GPO seems only to create the network drive ... but not the directory on the samba server itself. hints?

Creating home folders on file server automatically
Hi list, We have a script we are using to create new users, and drop them into the proper OUs on our Samba AD server, using samba-tool. We have a Samba member file server (fs1) joined to the domain for hosting our file shares. On there is also where we are putting the users' home folders. I saw in the Samba Docs, and in the mailing list, that I can use

AD home drive
Hi , We have an DC (Ubuntu18.04) which also acts as a file server. The server was recently classic upgraded to AD. Before that all the home drives were in /home. When we migrated to change we added the following in smb.conf to give users access to their existing home folders. The problem now is that when we create a user either using samba-tool create user username or smbpasswd or even via RSAT,

Same configuration is working on many hosts and if I create a home directory manually, I can login, but not on fly. And also when I change the /home permission to 777, its creating home directory for new users on fly. When strace a su session, I getting the following error. My guess is the module

Help with PAM Config
I've installed SAMBA, Winbind etc and everything is working great for users to login with GDM using DOMAIN+username Although this is working, now I can no longer login as a generic Linux user (ex. root). The following is my GDM file from /etc/pam.d/gdm I wonder if someone might have a suggestion as to what it's missing to allow Linux users to login? #%PAM-1.0 auth required
