Better still, use another distro, the red-hat distros will never allow
provisioning of a Samba AD DC. Building Samba to update soon gets
tiring.

Unable to rejoin to domain as AD DC
Hi all,
I was trying to upgrade samba to 4.8.0 on one of my AD DC (with Centos 6.6).
Sadly, there was some compatibility issues (I suppose so):
[root at backup samba-4.8.0]# samba-tool drs showrepl ERROR(<type
'exceptions.SyntaxError'>): uncaught exception - invalid syntax
(ms_schema.py, line 280)

samba member file server failer
I have setup samba 4.2.x as an AD DC in a linux container. This is an
privileged container. I am using the brdging interface and have bound samba
to the specific interface I want.
As an ADDC it is working great.
Now I go to the linux host, and created a samba 4.2 file server. I was able
to join it to the domain. I followed the member server instructions at

Thanks Rowland -- will attempt to pull the startup script from the deb
package.
Just to clarify, When starting samba as an AD DC, we use the samba-ad-dc
script, when starting samba as a file server only, we need a script that
only starts smbd, nmbd, and winbind. ?

rid mapping works on member server but not DC
Hi,
I have been struggling with this for a few days and think that now's
the time I can ask for help :) It's not an area I have delved into
before, so I have been trying to follow the documentation, do my own
research, and do as much configuration/testing as I can myself; but I
am now confused. (I am running 4.2.0 throughout).
I have successfully set up and configured a member server

Thanks Luis
I have changed ccdc.lan to CCDC.LAN
(NOTE: I cannot change the LAN suffix, this is an old domain that needs to
be imported into the samba 4.2.x version, it's a production domain and
cannot be changed, furthermore it's on an isolated network. P.S. I have
used the same name / procedure with the official samba 4.1.6 ubuntu package
and that has give no error whatsoever)
