Samba for Debian Jessie updated. ( 4.5.16 / 4.8.9 ) amd64/i386
Ok again, since my mail client borked me... The text version.. ;-) I've updated the Jessie repo. Repo Info: https://apt.van-belle.nl <https://apt.van-belle.nl> Due to the fact i still see people using samba 4.5 and Debian updated the Stretch version (in stretch-proposal) to 4.5.16. I've added 1 more update here, to stay inline with debian and due to the added fixes, which

winbind seems to hang when the DC goes down instead of switching to the other available DC
This is strange and should not happen. Verify if all DC's are also available as NS record in the DNS on the zones. Startup the DNS tool. Goto you primary dnszone ( and repeat for all other zones ) Do you see all your DC's as NS record in the zone, then its ok, if not.. Klik and Properties on the zone, goto Tab "Nameservers", add the other dc's. You can also try

Hai. I've finished the 4.7.8 package for Debian Stretch. You can find them in the repo stretch-unstable. (Note, these are not unstable, but a bad choice of words was made here.) This version is alligned with the debian samba patches up to 4.8.2, but adapted in this 4.7.8. The Build logs can be found here: http://downloads.van-belle.nl/samba4/Buildlogs/stretch/ So, i've made a few

winbind seems to hang when the DC goes down instead of switching to the other available DC
I have checked the DNS configuration as you recommended, and run more tests. It seems that winbidndd recover itself within about 10 minutes after the DC has been shutdown, not sure where that sort of timeout comes from :( # sleep 60; while true; do date; wbinfo -u; sleep 60; done Thu Aug? 1 16:39:32 CEST 2019 HYPERFILE\guest HYPERFILE\defaultaccount HYPERFILE\krbtgt HYPERFILE\administrator

Just out of curiosity, why are you not using something like Kolab or Zimbra? Hello, I'm running Samba 4.9.5 as domain member, when I bring down the current Window DC (10.50.50.187) the winbind seems to hang instead of switching to the other available DC (10.50.50.25) The "net ads" command show that Samba switched to the other available DC: net ads join -U 'administrator' -S 'PAVONE.HYPERFILE.LOCAL' 'HYPERFILE.LOCAL'^C root at

Troubles upgrading jailed DC from 4.8.7 to 4.8.9

Test 1) interfaces = 10.1.2.34/24 127.0.0.1 bind interfaces only = yes nbt client socket address = 127.0.0.1 Try again. In addition to test 1, Test 2. > ntlm auth=YES Remove that from the smb.conf then try again. At least for this test remove it. After a web search I found the solution

Debian Jessie Samba packages 4.6.16/4.7.9/4.8.4 (amd64/i386) available
Hai, Sorry for all delays, it was needed. I have also restructured the repo setup a bit, so package re-use is better which saved me some time. This resulted in a samba 4.8 for jessie, no need for multiple repo lines anymore. You choose the samba you want to run and you stay at that version until you change the repo. The site info isnt updated yet with this, i'll do that after i finish
