STOP!
Do not do this directly, reports on here have shown that this will not
work.
You will have to 'walk' up the versions, it may work if you go to
4.8.3, then to 4.9.4, but you may have to go to

DC Upgrade from 4.1.7 to 4.6.7
Hello all,
Our Samba AD DC is running perfectly for years with the following basic
setup (see smb.conf below) :
- one DC running Samba 4.1.7 / CentOS 6.5 (compiled from sources)
- internal DNS
- this DC is also a Print Server
- about 400 PC workstations (mainly win7 Pro / win10 Pro and some XP
Pro), and about 300 users
- several Synology NAS file servers

How to modify user fields with a command line ?
Hi,
On RSAT , we can see that there are some extra fields for users account
like description, office, phone number or email address.
I already have hundreds of user accounts in Samba AD but these extra fields
have not been fed. I would like to import in particular the email address
for each existing users, however I don't find a way to do that with a samba
command line.
Is there a way to

Upgrading Samba
Hi Rowland
I read the threads suggested by Louis (thanks Louis ! ) . As far as I understand , there could be a DNS issue between 4.8.x and 4.9.x.
I will try at least to add a new 4.7.12 DC to the domain (the only one current DC is 4.6.7) and check everything is ok .
(I take the 4.7.12 because I guess It is the most stable in the 4.7.x branch , am I right ?) .
After that , I may try to

Failed to modify SPNs
Hello,
I've got some log entries like these on our DCs:
Failed to modify SPNs on CN=db1,CN=Computers,DC=mydom,DC=lan: acl: spn validation failed for spn[TERMSRV/DB1.MYDOM] uac[0x1000] account[db1$]
hostname[(null)] nbname[mydom] ntds[(null)] forest[mydom.lan] domain[mydom.lan]
At first I thought it was about missing SPN entries, but adding these did not resolve the problem:

[HELP] SAMBA as PDC for windows.
Hi guys, well, reason I'm here is because im stuck, I've tried everything but
have come up empty handed every single time, and I really need this
security, and fast. I'm not going to pay a few thousand for windows server
... because this can be done with SAMBA. Here goes. I tried to setup samba
with defaults, went to (on windows) Control Panel -> System -> (TAB)

Samba 4.10 / CentOS 7
Ok Thank you Andrew
So I assume it is reasonable to install all packages listed for the CentOS8
in a CentOS7 server , I already have EPEL repo configured.
Our Samba 4.9 AD DC is source compiled and I would like to upgrade by
compiling and installing 4.10 .
So my other question is : is it possible to have python3 and python2 live
together on the same server ?
Thanks

DNS state after upgrading samba
Hello,
I am in the process of upgrading one single DC (internal DNS) to 4.8.12.
I have followed the procedure of adding a new DC, transfert FSMO roles and
demote the old DC.
Everything gone right (except at the tranfert FSMO step where I faced the
problem described here
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2017-August/210140.html , this bug
subsists in 4.8.12 , maybe it has been fixed in later
