Hello I am trying to integrate OS X 10.10.4 clients into existing Samba infractructure run by our IT department. We are currently using Samba 4.2.3. File share is stored on iSCSI array with ext4 filesystem which should support both ACL and XATTR. We are trying to setup vfs_fruit module to avoid possible performance problems on OS X clients. dear list, encountered a problem and hopefully someone more experienced might help me. problem is with macos 10.9.5 and finder. i want to copy a simple folder with subfolders and without any files to my samba share. files alone work flawlessly. when i drag a folder from desktop to the share the finder errors out with error -36 but creates all folders. same happens when i copy an empty folder

Reading documentation, I noticed, that vfs module fruit requires streams_xattr for work, and in documentation for streams_xattr i see that the file system of the share must support extended attributes. And OpenBSD FFS does NOT support extended attributes. Does this mean I cannot use frut module too?

since "ea = samba" was only added to very recent netatalk versions and so don't apply to files with a history of many years what is the way to go get rid of netatalk these days? is there still no tool to read/write the existing netatalk appladouble extended attributes which are *not* compatible with samba and write them back in the new format? afp.conf: appledouble = ea ea = samba
