Problems after upgrade from Samba3/OpenLDAP to Samba4 - New Useraccounts aren't properly working
Do you have the getent problem on your DC or your fileserver? If it's on a fileserver did you check that the RID is inside the range you set up in smb.conf? Properly "locking" a useraccount (on a proxy)
I'm preparing a migration of several mailboxes to another machine. The different useraccounts are distributed to different backend machines by means of a dovecot LMTP/IMAP/POP proxy. Proxying is working really well (now that the kernel does as it should). But how can I "lock" a user during migration? The plan is: ============ * lock the user * kick the user (doveadm kick) *

Samba (Linux) Server and Mac OS X Clients
Hi, I'v been googling around for information using a samba server as authentification and fileserver for mac os x clients. At the moment I have all useraccounts and (home-)shares configured on the samba server and I can manually connect to the server from the os x clients. My Questions: Has someone a how to configure a loginscript for mounting the samba shares? Or has someone a how to

force re-authentication when accessing different shares
hi all! using samba 4.9 to export directories for 'virtual' users, i.e. users which have distinct homedirectories and distinct smbpasswd entries under a writeable /data partition. to prevent the need to create /etc/passwd useraccounts (on read-only /), a self written libnss modul acts as a source. the lib only checks if the homedirectory exists, returns a fake passwd struct, and finally

winbind nss info = rfc2307 doesn't work when users not in "Users" Container?
Hi all, we have been using a samba setup with samba being an AD member, idmap backend = ad and winbind nss info = rfc2307 for several month without problems yet. But it turns out now that we cannot move useraccounts in AD from the original location "CN=Users,dc=uni-wh,dc=de" to a newly created OU "OU=uwhusers,dc=uni-wh,dc=de" because winbind doesn't get correct values

Workstation Trust Accounts
Hi there, I have a really ugly problem, which, as I know is partially selfmade. But to the problem: I have five servers running samba-2.2.3a-12 (latest Debian Woody release) which are controlled by one master server. All of the five servers act as pdc for an own nt-domain. Now to keep the administrative work as low as possible I have this one master server. Via this server we/our customer

OpenLDAP Administration for Samba3
I am looking for an LDAP client to manage the LDAP server that we are going to use when we switch to samba3. A Windows variety would be OK, a web interface would be even better. Just looking for suggestions to try. Thanks, Brandon

Questions on Samba3/OpenLDAP/PDC
Greetings! I set up a PDC with samba 3.0.4 and openldap-2.2.14 and use smbldap-tools to populate ldap database. I am able to use the Microsfot's User Manager (usrmgr.exe) to add and delete users. I have a few questions that I hope you can help me with. 1. smbldap-tools maps Domain Admins group to group ID 512. I created domadmins group with ID 512 in /etc/group and added

migrating from samba3+openldap+autofs to samba4 AD DC?
Any suggestions as to folks who have written fairly concise how-tos'? Much of what I've found so far is pretty vague. Also if moving to AD DC model, strategies for syncing with OpenLDAP... (Not to stir up old wounds, but the idea of multiple credential sources makes me very ill) Thanks, -Jeff -- Jefferson K Davis Technology and Information Systems Manager Standard School

The domain has aprox 4000 users accounts, 4000 workstations, and several groups. I was able to successfully migrate the domain in a test environment. But I am faced with the problem that I will not be able to migrate in parallel the more than 20 locations
