Windows XP and Samba 3.0.22 -- don't mix?
All, I desperately need a resolution to this issue. I've asked once (about a day or two ago), but I haven't heard anything back. The only reason I press the issue is I may because without a quick resolution, I may be forced to switch over to AD (cry!). I submitted a request via Bugzilla but I saw a slightly similar problem with 3.0.20a that still hasn't been resolved, so I

Samba 4.9.3 and the "10 hour problem"
We have a setup with a bunch of Dell servers acting as fileserver for the university here, running FreeBSD with Samba (and NFS & SFTP) to provide service for staff & students. This works in general really (very) well. We have around 4000-5000 SMB connections spread over 6 servers during “rush hours” (8am-5pm). However, due to some strange (I bet it’s due to the service ticket timeout)

Sieve-scripts won't replicate
Hi, I am trying to use dovecot replication for a two-way sync. And whatever I do, sieve-scripts won?t replicate. Mails replicate near instantaneous. When I disable the sieve-script in roundcube, the other server will create in the home of the user on the other side a folder sieve/tmp but enabling won?t create the roundcube.sieve and the symlink .dovecot.sieve -> sieve/roundcube.sieve The

mail_max_userip_connections
What is the appropriate setting for mail_max_userip_connections ? My POP3 connections seem to be mostly 1 at a time, but my IMAP connections are often 3 per user per IP. Is this appropriate? If I change the IMAP setting to mail_max_userip_connections=1 will it break things for the user? I am trying to improve this situation: > ps auxwww | grep "imap " | wc 237 3080 22400

Fastest restart of dovecot after upgrade: HOW?:
I'm running dovecot under runit: #!/bin/sh echo '/var/core/%p' > /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern ulimit -n 8096 ulimit -c unlimited exec /usr/local/sbin/dovecot -F (that way, together with incron, I can automatically generate the coredumps I'm posting all the time) If I apply a patch and recompile, what is the fastest way of restarting dovecot? Which part of the process

Problem with process_limit
Hello, i have a problem with the process_limit configuration. Occasionally, it happens that the dovecot.log shows this line: master: Warning: service(imap): process_limit reached, client connections are being dropped So I checked, the process number, with the command: ps auxwww | grep imap | grep -v login | wc -l and it shows 1024. Then, i edited the file /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-master.conf and

Unable to connect to vmchannel on host when the VM is started via libvirt
Hi experts, When I start a VM using "virsh create vm.xml", I'm not able to connect to the vmchannel from host. The process libvirtd is running as root (modified qemu.conf to set user/group to root) already. The connect just hangs there even after the guest VM is up and running. However, if I start the VM using kvm directly (with same arguments as libvirtd in `ps auxwww`), the

Winbind causes LLOONNGG delays
I have Samba 3.0.4 joined to a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain with about 16,000 users and 1,000 groups. I run FreeBSD 5.2.1 on a Dell PowerEdge 1750, dual proc P4 Xeon with HTT and 1 gig of RAM. Storage is RAID-5, three drives, 36G each. I use winbind to auth users when accessing shares on the server. This is going to be our new fileserver. Check this: # time ps auxwww | grep http root

httx, iiimf, and Japanese input still not working
Japanese input - the final frontier. This is the last obstacle before I can work completely within Centos and be free of Windows. But it's still not working. To cut to the chase, in my quest to get Japanese working, I came across the following: https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-i18n-list/2004-November/msg00030.html ... where someone says: "You need to have httx (htt_xbe) running

Processing "BIND8-like" statistics
I wonder how to process the statistics logged by nsd. We compile with --enable-bind8-stats and I thought we would be able to reuse the Perl script that translated our BIND8 statistics to MRTG. But the script has problems, probably because nsd has several daemons, not just one, and each one is logging statistics. Aug 4 10:34:01 ns2 nsd[24573]: NSTATS 1059986041 1059979224 A=292259 NS=4886
