Adding Printer
We are a very small company and moved from WinTel environment to Linux.
Killed the WinTel file/print server and implemented SAMBA om Red Hat 7.2.
I have some users that need to print to a RICOH Aficio 4106 printer. When I
go through the sequence to add printer ...... it appears to install, but
the people cannot print.
Can anyone walk me through steps as I am novice...... and I do not want to

After update from 3.5.x to 3.6.23 all printers configured in CUPS they are no longer shared
After update my PDC server from Centos 5.5 to 5.11 and then samba 3.5
to 3.6.22 all work fine, except printers: all CUPS printers shared are
not visible and usable from clients.
If I put manually each printer (like suggest here[1]) into smb.conf,
all printers manually added are visible and usable (this is my
workaround for now).
In smb.conf I have set:
load printers = yes

Client driver installation
I've an OpenSuSE based server installed at work that uses Samba to share out the
prrinters for our users on the AD that will be replacing our aging Windows 2000
print server. I'm in the process of getting the printer drivers installed for
Windows clients. At present, I'm installing the drivers for the RICOH Aficio we
have. When I run the following command:?

adding printers from netlogon script
I don't know the final answer BUT if you have something simmilar to a
cyber-cafe LAN (I mean, users use all the computers, and maybe some
users come back to login with the same name) then you have to install a
printer only once in a computer, loging as the administrator and
installing drivers. Then what users will have to do is JUST add the
printer without installing. I know that it's

Samba and Cups - number of copies
Hi all...
I need some docs about how to intergrate cups with samba...
I have install samba 3.2.5 and cups 1.3.8 on Debian Lenny system.
I have install a printer ( Ricoh Aficio 3245C PS ) and have work fine...
But when I follow the job on /var/log/cups/page_log, I always see that
number of copies is 1, doesn't matter if the jobs has 5 or 10 pages...
It's always show 1 on page_log...

Samba closing printer prematurely?
Greetings Samba Users,
I have a strange issue. Adobe Reader can't print to a Samba
printer. It would be funny except it is happening to me....
Adobe Reader can't print PDF files to a true Adobe PS3 printer but GhostView can
print PDF files without any problems.
The printer in question is a Ricoh Aficio AP4510.
I tried Samba v3.0.11 and v3.0.20 and I get the same result, no

w2k, adding printers and other questions.
RH 7.2, samba 2.2.5-1 installed via RPM. Using winbind. I'm trying to
see how much remote printer administration is possible from a w2k box,
and I'm having a few problems, several are probably related. HELP!
Few quick questions first, before the 2 big questions:
Not sure if it was necessary, but I put root = myNTlogin in smbusers
file. Is that completely wrong/pointless?

Printer driver interface different
Hi there, I'm having a wierd problem where the driver for one printer
displays a different UI from a samba server, compared to any other MS
machine sharing the same printer. I'm running an ubuntu box with
samba 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.4. The printer is a Ricoh Afficio 5560.
I've tried copying the driver files from a win2k3 server to my samba
box and installing the driver manually

Suddenly Windows clients can't join Samba+ldap PDC anymore
You should be able to unbind ipv6 for the win 10 machine's network
interface.
does "nslookup SRV1" work?
Also, you may want to try running tcpdump or ethereal or wireshark on
our PDC and see what traffic is captres.

Suddenly Windows clients can't join Samba+ldap PDC anymore
Excuse me for the little flood please, i've just checked it again and
now i see SRV1 as master for exedra.cat workgroup, i event can see in
the logs Samba name server SRV1 is now a local master browser for
workgroup EXEDRA.CAT on subnet 192.168.69.203
So i'll keep digging on how to fix the issue exposed on my first
email, tomorrow i'll try to see wether it's an IPV6 issue or

A few issues with samba & cups
Hi all.
I have Samba-3.0.1 sharing 2 printers via the 'share all printers'
feature - the printers are an HP 4500 colour laser, and a Ricoh Aficio
AP3200 ( accepting jobs like a network HP does ).
I followed the instructions on the CUPS website for sharing printers
with the CUPS windows driver, using their 'cupsaddsmb' script, which
basically takes your existing ppd file, and
