Time server on AD DC in an LXD container.
After reading the instructions at
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Time_Synchronisation, I still have
questions about how samba interacts with nptd.
The issue is that LXD doesn't want containers setting the time and so won't
start ntpd at container startup even though it's enabled in systemd. The
host does sync it's time with a national time server, so we can assume that

SELinux : please explain ...
Hello,
This is somehow off-topic, since the problem appears on a modified
CentOS-6.2 (turned into a xen-4.1 host) : I get SELinux errors, and
I'm not able to understand them.
From audit2why :

lxc capabilities
I'm experimenting with the libvirt lxc driver, and wondering if there is
some way to control the capabilities assigned to the container processes.
With lxc-tools, I can specify a configuration option, lxc.cap.drop,
which causes the container processes to drop the specified privileges.
My libvirt containers seem to run with

SELinux is preventing /usr/bin/chcon "mac_admin" access
CentOS-6.1 KVM guest on CentOS-6.1 host.
I am seeing this SEAlert in the /var/log/audit/audit.log
file a new guest immediately after startup. Can someone
tell me what it means and what I should do about it? A
Google search reveals a number of Fedora issues with
similar errors dating back a few years; most of which seem
to have something to do with package ownership.

<printername>.tdb error management...
Sometimes (rarely, very rarely) i spot a <printername>.tdb error that
seems to prevent the communication between samba and CUPS.
In log i see:
[2019/06/26 15:15:49.633876, 0] ../source3/lib/util_tdb.c:316(tdb_log)
tdb(/var/cache/samba/printing/sml5010-2.tdb): tdb_rec_read bad magic 0x25 at offset=26096
the only solution i've found, pretty drastic, is:

Samba 4.5.3 on HP UX IA64 : smbclient - tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_DISCONNECTED
Hi Rowland,
On HP-UX , only ‘Posix ACL’s’ are supported. So, file sharing doesn’t seem
to be working on ADDC as it supports only Windows ACL’s as per
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_POSIX_ACLs
Also, as per below link, it is not recommended to use ADDC as file sharing
service

How to override $::operatingsystem fact
Hi,
I want to introduce "Proxmox" as new value in $::operatingsystem.
"Proxmox" is based on Debian, so the normal value is currently "Debian".
To change that, I just write a custom fact based on the facter fact
"operatingsystem"
Facter.add(:operatingsystem) do

Please don't top-post with fully quoting all previous content. This is a
mailinglist.
Proxmox VE is based on Debian. What does this have to do with CentOS? As
it makes use of KVM you can run CentOS on top of it as a virtualization
guest.

Urgent :) Procedure for replacing Gluster Node on 3.8.12
Status: We have a 3 node gluster cluster (proxmox based)
- gluster 3.8.12
- Replica 3
- VM Hosting Only
- Sharded Storage
Or I should say we *had* a 3 node cluster, one node died today. Possibly I
can recover it, in whcih case no issues, we just let it heal itself. For
now its running happily on 2 nodes with no data loss - gluster for teh win!
But its looking like I might have to replace the

There is OpenNode:

I've heard good things thus far but have not had time nor need to test it myself.

cluster of 3 nodes and san
Hi list, I need a little help, I currently have a cluster with vmware
and 3 nodes, I have a storage (Dell powervault) connected by FC in
redundancy, and I'm thinking of migrating it to proxmox since the
maintenance costs are very expensive, but the Doubt is if I can use
glusterfs with a san connected by FC? , It is advisable? , I add
another data, that in another site I have another cluster

Hi Rowland,

What do you think about that config for the share FTPFiles ?
Does it has some directives you would remove ?
