wbinfo_group.pl / wbinfo -r not working!
Hello, I have been using samba to authenticate my squid users to Active Directory. Because of the amount of users, I would like to set up my ACL's based on groups, rather than individual user accounts. I have successfully joined my samba box to our windows domain (2k). For some reason I had to enter the domain controller name instead of the domain name when doing so. I am now having issues

>What is wrong with the Samba wiki, what didn't go exactly like the wiki ? https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Maintaining_Unix_Attributes_in_AD_using_ADUC Well take this wiki that I'm trying to follow to add the AD uid/gid to the objects. It's helpful and confusing, but maybe because I'm just not informed enough. I got the property pages to show in AD Users & Computers,

See below AD schema appended, uid's, gid's assigned, STILL getent will not identify any AD users or groups. I created the AD schema file and imported the NIS schema to the AD Schema Master. Set these 2 values using ADSI Edit # msSFU30MaxUidNumber: 50000 # msSFU30MaxGidNumber: 50000 Assigned uid's to all users Assign all users Primary Group to "Domain Users" as the AD User

While I have all the uid's and gid's entered on every user and group, the server can't find or recognize them. Not in getent, not in commands referencing AD users or groups. I'm going to go ahead and install another Ubuntu server with Samba and create a Samba DC. I'll keep this stand alone server and see if it starts working after I get the Samba DC properly joined to the

Winbind Problem after Update from 3.0.21b -> 3.0.23b
Hi all, we're using Winbind on a Solaris 9 machine to authenticate our Users, who are held in a Windows 2003SP1 AD. We are now using Samba 3.0.21b and everything works as expected. I configured the nsswitch and installed "libnss_winbind.so" and "pam_winbind.so" as described in the documentation and winbind is able to resolve the AD users and groups and the useres are able

Using Samba 4.7.4 as a domain member
Hi! I've installed samba 4.7.4 with options. All works fine except winbind. The command getent and id don't return ad users. What's the problem? ./configure --prefix=/opt/samba --libdir=/lib64 --with-piddir=/run/samba --with-pammodulesdir=/lib64/security --enable-fhs --without-ad-dc --enable-selftest

Samba4 Member Server not working
Hi, I have one Samba4 server running as Active Directory Domain Controller. It's working like a charm. So I needed to add another server to be a Member Server (File Server). The server is running samba-4.0.9. Configured and compiled ok: ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/samba --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var --mandir=/usr/man --bindir=/usr/bin --sbindir=/usr/sbin --libdir=/lib

No, Services for Unix are not installed, but I did install the NIS for Unix for the AD Users & Computers app and that all works fine. I did however find the Samba LDIF file for preparing a Directory Schema import file, and I did that. That
