C7 ansible 2.3 become_method: su not working
I just don't know what else to try. I've beat my head on this for 3 days
now and it's becoming obvious that either Ansible 2.3 is a complete
disaster, or the CentOS 7 package is a complete cluster. Here's my
problem. I am working on getting an ansible server to manage about 100
or so CentOS 6 servers. All have an unprivileged user account setup (up
to 3 years before I got

run bash <filename> from cron
This might be a bit OT, but I've never had to do this before and what
I've googled doesn't seem to be working.
I have an ansible playbook that I'm working on that I want to run as a
cronjob.? One task I'm having trouble with is where I have a text file
with lines like:
rd.pl "blah blah"
rd.pl "blah blah blah"
This text file has to be 'executed'

yum install <olderversion> does not downgrade
We're using ansible to configure our CentOS 6 servers, and we have a
task to install a specific version of a package:
- name: install thrift2
yum: name=ripencc-thrift2-{{ version }}
In this ansible task, the "version" variable is set by the operator.
When we want to upgrade, it works. But today we had to downgrade, and
noticed that ansible wasn't downgrading it. So we tried

I am hoping this is documented, but I can't find much more than "you should

I setup an ansible playbook to instal and configure sidedoor on A. I have

Possibly [OT] ansible vmware inventory plugin
Yeah, it's the Extras repo Ansible package. So, my next (probably stupid)
question, is there a way to get the vmware_inventory plugin setup on my
system?

Group Policy alternative (Looking for feedback on a project)
Hello all,
So I am working on a group policy-like system based around Ansible.
Essentially, I am going to use Ansible playbooks as a cross-platform
alternative to the Windows registry and Group Policy Objects (GPOs). In
Samba, the way the group policy is applied is that it reads the set
registry values and then tries to translate that into Linux language.
This is inefficient and limiting as

Managing VMs across multiple physical hosts
Hello List,
We’re currently managing VMs across approximately 26 physical hosts. We tend to migrate VMs around a lot to do things like spread load and keep VMs running when physical hosts are in need of package updates.
Suffice it to say sometimes finding out which physical host a VM is currently running on can be a pain.
Anyone know of an open source tool that will give me a snapshot of

Apache/PHP Installation - opinions
Hey guys,
I tend to work on small production environments for a large enterprise.
Never more than 15 web servers for most sites.
But most are only 3 to 5 web servers. Depends on the needs of the
client.I actually like to install Apache and PHP from source and by
hand. Although I know that's considered sacrilege in some shops.
I do this because on RH flavored systems like CentOS the

Given a list of rpms on one system (rpm -qa > list.txt), is there a one-shot command that I can run on another system to remove all of the rpms not listed and add any that are on the list and not present on the second system?

CentOS 6.4 apparent rpm problem
Well, after three days of beating my head against my desk, I'm waving
the white flag.? I've got a CentOS 6.4 box (yeah, I know) that I blew
away the OpenLDAP client and installed the freeipa-client as we're
transitioning off this terrible OpenLDAP implementation here.?
Everything installed fine, and while I'm still tweaking the ansible
playbook for completely flushing PAM and
