Samba slow browsing/access
Hello everyone I'm currently running samba 4.0.21 on classic pdc role mode under FreeBSD 10.0 (RELEASE-p9) , most of shares are located in a ZFS volume with NFSv4 acls using vfs_zfsacl, file and folder browsing become gradative slower , when i open a share or folder especially the huge ones it takes some time to list everything and some times doesn't show anything, also sporadically some

3.0.25 *breaks* stand alone server, 3.0.24 works fine
Gerry, It looks like 3.0.25 breaks "stand alone/no winbind/no domain" servers. This is remeniscent of the 3.0.23b SID/GID problem. The only thing that jumps out at me is that you can't access your home share and other shares just quit working. Looking at the log files, I see this: [2007/05/14 15:24:55, 10] smbd/open.c:share_conflict(389) share_conflict:

Confusion berween file and direcory
I have some trouble with a samba 3.5.8 server when setting directory attributes. On a windows XP I execute a small peace of code that calls 'SetFileAttributes' for the directory 'test-dir' located on the samba server. Using log level 10 I find this: [2011/05/26 15:27:02.144060, 3] smbd/process.c:1298 (switch_message) switch message SMBtrans2 (pid 28903) conn 0x7f5e35f0dbb0

PATCH: Samba/Win2K renaming bug
Hi there. I'm running Samba 2.2.3a on RedHat 7.1 + kernel 2.4.17. My girlfriend's laptop is running Windows 2000 + service pack 2. She has about a thousand MP3s stored on a Samba share on my RedHat machine. We were finding that she couldn't rename any MP3s on the Samba share: she would always get a sharing violation. After a day of reading Samba logs at debug 10 (_such_ fun [ ;)

Saving files with MS Word to samba3 server is very slow!
Hi! I'm currently hunting a strange problem and looking for help! I have a samba3 fileserver (currently samba-3.0.20b, but problem can be reproduced with samba-3.0.7, but _not_ with samba2 like 2.2.8a), and I see performance problems when writing files with MS word 2002 SP3 from a NT4.0 (SP6a) workstation. Saving even the smallest file takes more than 10 seconds! Copying files with Windows

Yum update changes inode of file
Hi folks, on CentOS 6.5 I run tripwire software which verifies data integrity. My system is automatically updated by yum (as far as I understand the /etc/cron.daily/0yum.cron is responsible for the regular system updates). After a system update I'm then notified by tripwire about the changes on the file system. By browsing those tripwire reports I found that there are files which did

Antw: Re: STATUS_SHARE_VIOLATION when Read while Write on GPFS + CTDB
Hello Volker, I was able to get those level 10 logs - spitted by machine. Unfortunately I don't know how attachments behave - Groupwise seems not to be happy with those - so I try the redundant way: Here are the logfiles for this event (only one machine, one try): https://www.bitmammut.de/WDR/log.klnmszap32 In this file there are about 3 occurrences of the

Update 4.10.2 to 4.10.4: Cant create files in subdirectorie anymore
Hi everyone, since i upgraded from 4.10.2 to 4.10.4 i can't write into subdirectories of a share anymore. This worked perfectly fine before i upgraded and also works again if i downgrade.? I think either something is fishy with the 'filename_convert_internal' function of ".../source3/smbd/filename.c" or my configuration needs to be adjusted for 4.10.4. I tried several

[PATCH 1/1] ocfs2/xattr: Proper hash collision handle in bucket division.v3
Modification from V2 to V3: Use a more pefect code suggested by Joel. Thank Joel for it. In ocfs2/xattr, we must make sure the xattrs which have the same hash value exist in the same bucket so that the search schema can work. But in the old implementation, when we want to extend a bucket, we just move half number of xattrs to the new bucket. This works in most cases, but if we are lucky enough we

Auth problem
Linuxbox with Samba 3.0 has been joined Win2k domain with command "net ads join" & "net rpc join". winbindd & smbd & nmbd started successfully without any error messages. I could use "wbinfo -u" & "wbinfo -g" to get domain user/group list. But I cannot use "genent passwd" to get New mapped uid, it only returned local linux accounts.

Authentication problem
I've got a RH9 box with samba 3.0.0 using winbind and pam for windows client and user authentication to a 2003 AD DC. This morning I started having problems with a few shares that then cascaded into a larger issue of being able to authenticate any client to the machine. I configured Kerberos with my realm information and have added the machine to the domain several times and have been

SIP, DTMF, and AudioCodes Mediant 2k
Greetings... I'm working on getting an AudioCodes Mediant 2000 big box o' PRI's going with Asterisk, and am running into a problem with DTMF handling. The box is sending DTMF packets to Asterisk as INFO packets, and they are apparently being seen by Asterisk. However, the DTMF knowledge doesn't seem to actually do anything -- the VM system doesn't recognize the digits,

Baffling regress/forwarding.sh failure, new in 7.4p1
I have the OpenSSH regression tests hooked up to run in Debian and Ubuntu's "autopkgtest" system, so that they're automatically run on uploads of OpenSSH itself or any of its dependencies. This is especially good for enforcing interoperability between it and other SSH implementations, but it's also pretty good for throwing up occasional extremely-hard-to-debug failures since

Rsync 2.5.5 hangs for no apparent reason
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this email. I'm using rsync to make a copy of my Netbackup Catalogs to an offsite server for DRP. I have narrowed the problem down to a few sub-directories that contains 16 directories each and in each directory there are about 37 files. None of the files are larger than 300MB. In fact, most of them are around 1K-5MB. The problem is, rsync

Weird: cron or sendmail don't work properly after I installed winbind
Hi, I have been staring at this problem for hours now and I am about to throw in the towel ... On monday I installed winbind (Samba 2.5.5) on my Suse 7.2 Linux file server, and everything seemed to work fine. Today I noticed though, that I didn't get any mail notifications from the cron jobs that run on that server. After hours of investigation I can provide the following diagnostics: (1)
