Hi David
Go to the samba wiki on https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Main_Page,
search for "2016", klick on FAQ, scroll down a bit.
There it says:

Domain Functionality Level and GPO password policies
Hi guys,
I've been trying to work out how to set a GPO that allows certain
Groups (Domain Users) a password expiry of 60 days and another group
(Domain admins) an expiry of 30 days, but when looking through the
Group Policy Manager I don't see how to achieve this.
After looking around online I stumbled across the domain Functionality
Level which if I understand means that I have to

Raise Domain functional level to 2012_R2
Hello Andrew,
first let me say it was a pleasure to meet you in G?ttingen at the SambaXP.
The discussion about the "DNS" in the evening was very interesting.
So, i have asked this question a few weeks before, maybe a entry in the
samba wiki would help ;)
Regards from Germany

Dear all,
My , samba-tool domain level show shows me it is W2003:

Forest function level: (Windows) 2003
Domain function level: (Windows) 2003
Lowest function level of a DC: (Windows) 2008 R2
Can I raise without issues to W 2008 R2?
Or should I stay with 2003?

Heimdal Kerberos in Samba4
Hi List,
I do my best to ask my question in english. ;-)
Samba4 integrated heimdal kerberos to do the kerberos work for Active
Directory. Some Linux Distributions like fedora/RedHat and openSUSE/SUSE
don't accept heimdal even if it is shipped inside samba.
Their argument is that heimdal isn't maintained since 2012. Compiling
samba against MIT krb5 results in Samba-Packages without

Lowest functional level 2000 (4.6.4)
I have a samba dc which i recently upgraded to 4.6.4. I was looking at updating the functional level as it currently returns:
Forest function level: (Windows) 2000
Domain function level: (Windows) 2000
Lowest function level of a DC: (Windows) 2000
There is only a single DC (this host).

Samba4 Disable USB ports
Hi guys,
I'm running a Sernet-samba-ad-4.1.17-11.el6.x86_64 PDC with another 4
Samba4 DC's all joined to the same AD domain myorg.local
My client wants me to disable all USB ports for all the users joined to the
domain.
Is it possible to do this via a group policy so that users logging onto any
of the DC's will not be able to use their USB ports?
I currently admin my AD with a

Samba4 AD sssd or pam_krb
Dear All,
I was using Samba3 + LDAP central authentication for the pass 5 years.
And since need to move to Samba4 AD was wonder if there is a way to do
linux central authentication without sssd but using pam_krb
I'm asking this because I've removed mit-krb5 on my testing machine as
required by samba4 in my gentoo.
So without mit-krb5 sssd don't compile.
So was wonder if there any

Dovecot with Imp problems
Hi guys,
I've run into a strange problem using beta 8 and beta 9 when using the latest version of Horde/IMP
Through IMP, I can see that there are messages in the maildir on the sidemenu(popup menu) but the emails don't show in my actual
inbox.
I thought this was an IMP problem, but then I downgraded to dovecot 99 series RPM and this resolved the problem.
I was seeing the following

Andrey: Thank you for letting me know about the SysVol replication across
DC's, I haven't enabled this yet and will be doing so, is there anything I
should watch out for? I'll just be using the "
