Synchronizing passwords to Samba 4
Thank you.
"syncpasswords" seems useful to push passwords from Samba to something.
I need to do it the other way : push passwords from OpenLDAP to Samba.

samba-tool user getpassword --decrypt-samba-gpg
Hello,
I'm looking to use the new 'samba-tool user getpassword' or 'samba-tool
user syncpasswords' for syncing to an OpenLDAP server. I've configured the
'password hash gpg key ids' in smb.conf. Everything appears to be working
fine, except the plaintext passwords returned from samba-tool user
getpassword --decrypt-samba-gpg are different. Do the returned values

samba-tool user syncpasswords crashes with python3
Hi,
i sync the passwords from samba to other backends using "samba-tool
user syncpasswords"
On my operative system (samba 4.10 and python2) all works fine.
I upgraded my test-DC to samba 4.11 and python3 and now the samba-tool
user syncpasswords --daemon crashes.

Google Cloud Directory Service password synchronization for AD DC
I'm trying to have my Samba 4 AD DC users mapped and synchronized with
google apps for education accounts.
I would like to start from the native windows password update procedure to
eventually update the google apps password (actually, I think only some
types of hashes are stored).
Google actually provides a tool to synchronize user accounts and profiles
which works juste fine. This tools

Synchronization problems between Win2k8R2 and samba
Hello,
I have a small test network with a Win2k8R2 DC.
I've added a samba4 as second DC in this network.
The join seems to run smoothly.
But, after the join, this command: ldapsearch -LLL -x -H
ldapi://%2Fvar%2Flib%2Fsamba%2Fprivate%2Fldap_priv%2Fldapi -b
"dc=test,dc=dom" "(SAMAccountName=Administrateur)"
returns some strange results:

syncpasswords/getpassword: some examples, please...
[Clearly, this question is intimately connected to the previous...]
I need a way to ''preprocess'' or at least intercept password changes,
because i need to propagate them to other ''legacy'' systems.
I've looked around and found syncpasswords / getpassword samba-tool
commands, but really i've not understood how they work.
Seems to me that can be useful in

Webgen as a backend for a end-user friendly CMS?
Hi all,
I just had the idea of using webgen as a backend for an end-user
friendly CMS. Such an end-user would for example be someone who has no
programming or computer skills that go beyond using M$ Word. After
logging into a friendly, graphic-based admin area of the website (e.g.
PHP or Ruby-based), he/she can easily create, change, delete menu nodes,
text content, and do a lot of other

Allow self password change using LDAP(s) with Samba4
Hi all
I am trying to create a webapp to allow users to change their own passwords
in Samba4 (perhaps, also in AD), using LDAP(s). But when I try to modify
the user password using this code:
dn: ........
changetype: modify
replace: unicodePwd
unicodePwd: "Temporal2"
I get this error:
0x32 (Insufficient access; error in module acl: insufficient access rights
during LDB_MODIFY (50))

samba-tool user syncpasswords 4.10 bug
Hi,
When I use "samba-tool user syncpasswords" in Samba 4.10.11 (and earlier
version of 4.10), I get a python exception coming from a place in
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/samba/netcmd/user.py
I could fix it with this patch:

Samba4 as AD, what password hash is used?
Hi,
Thank you for this answer, unfortunately I was not able to re-hash password
as they are hashed into LDB database.
First I retrieved the hash:
ldbsearch -H $sam '(cn=some user)' unicodePwd
# record 1
dn: CN=some user,OU=Users Management,DC=ad,DC=example,DC=com
unicodePwd:: COwwLgiqqaHRyhy4HxWp4A==
This "unicodePwd" attribute comes from a quick search into "user"

Changing Passwords in Active Directory with ruby-net-ldap
I am building an application in Rails using ruby-net-ldap and I am
trying to figure out how to change passwords in Active Directory. Does
anyone have any experience with this using the ruby-net-ldap gem? I know
that I remember seeing an example on the web somewhere that showed how
to do this using the depot application from the Rails book but for the
life of me I can''t find it again. :(
