Users cannot change their passwords
Thanks for the quick reply, I believe I am using MIT based on log file names; but is there a better way to tell? I'm not very knowledgeable about the distinction between MIT and Heimdal regarding KDC. Can you direct me to a resource that explains how to make the switch as I am just using the defaults in SUSE. Additionally, many of the domains experiencing this bug were working fine; before

Currently the version of Samba available on Ubuntu 18.04 is 4.7.6. I would like to use version 4.8, is there a repository for 4.8 on Ubuntu that anybody recommends or knows of? Torin Woltjer Grand Dial Communications - A ZK Tech Inc. Company 616.776.1066 ext. 2006 www.granddial.com

Users cannot change their passwords
Currently running multiple active directory domain controllers on OpenSUSE Leap 15 with Samba 4.7.8 I'm running into an issue where users cannot change their own passwords. On a domain joined Windows laptop logged in as Administrator, trying to change the password results in an error: The user name or password is incorrect, Try again. At the same time in the systemd journal for samba-ad-dc,

migrating DC from 4.7.8 on SUSE to 4.7.6 on Ubuntu
Having some trouble with this migration, everything runs on the fresh install. Once I copy in the contents of the previous /var/lib/samba samba-ad-dc now fails to start. This is all the journal gives me: samba[5917]: [2018/10/01 18:36:19.094420, 0] ../source4/smbd/server.c:448(binary_smbd_main) samba[5917]: samba version 4.7.6-Ubuntu started. samba[5917]: Copyright Andrew Tridgell and the

content of sam.ldb vs sam.ldb.d/DC=MYDOMAIN,DC=LAN
Hi everyone, I am wondering what is the difference between the content in sam.ldb and sam.ldb.d/DC=MYDOMAIN,DC=LAN. In the two file I have my user entry: # ldbsearch -H /usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb.d/DC\=TRANQUILIT\,DC\=LOCAL.ldb | grep dn | grep CN=dcardon dn: CN=dcardon,CN=Users,DC=tranquilit,DC=local # ldbsearch -H /usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb | grep dn | grep CN=dcardon dn:

missing sam.ldb file
Hi, We have suddenly noticed a difference between our dc's. The file called /var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb.d/sam.ldb is only present on 1 of our three dc's. The AD seems to be in healthy state, but...isn't this a bit strange? root at dc3:/var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb.d# ls -l sam.ldb -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 53248 Sep 2 17:31 sam.ldb root at dc3:/var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb.d#

[samba4] How to use my ldap users in sam.ldb?
Hi I successfully compiled samba4 on my ubuntu. Actually, most our Linux servers are using en openldap base to authenticate. All the samba 3 servers use this openldap base /passdb backend = ldapsam:ldaps://ldap.intra.labo.fr// (in the smb.conf) I tried to migrate the users account of my openldap database to internal samba4 ldap database. For this I used the myldap-pub.py script with this
