Net rpc share migrate
I'm trying to migrate my NT4 PDC to samba. So I currently have a samba
3.0.14a serveur with ldap backend as running BDC. I successfully migrated
SAM database with net
vampire command. However when I tried to migrate shares (or files... same
error) with this command :
net rpc share migrate shares test -S 'SERVEURNT4' --acls -v -U
Administrateur%secret
I get this error :

Can't write to a samba share mounted as an AD user
If I’m not confused though, I believe pisymbol CAN get a mount.
It’s just that the mount has read-only access despite the file ownership and modes being set to give full read-write?

Are your symlinks identified as symlinks on Samba/SMB shares?
Hi,
I would appreciate someone testing if their system can recognize symlinks (as below) on their SMB share. My Mac and Windows machines can NOT recognize symlinks on my NAS's SMB share, they just identify symlinks as real files and folders.
Why is this an issue? Because when I try to copy parts of these backups from the NAS it just loops back on itself forever.
Eg:

Clients send tons of Notiftication requests
Hi everybody!
I have a QNAP at home running firmware 4.4.2.1273 and I have configured it
with NFS (for my iMac and FireTV) and SMB access (standalone server, for
Win10 and iPhone/iPad Files access)
Everything went fine till a certain point where many application would crash
or behave in a very strange way when accessing SAMBA shares. Application can

cannot find any suitable libguestfs supermin
I download libguestfs from github and fetch to the *origin master*.
I tried to build libguestfs in my own linux distro and I followd the
http://libguestfs.org/guestfs-building.1.html#using-a-prebuilt-binary-appliance
to replace with supermin
I download the appliance-1.30.1.tar.xz and appliance-1.30.1.tar.xz.sig
and extract the tarball to /home/user/appliance
and export

Build dovecot from source
I am sorry if this is not the correct list for asking this. T try to build dovecot 2.3.20 from source on a QNAP NAS, which is a linux variant. There is an dovecot available, but this does not include a pigeonhole sieve,
that?s why I try to build it from source. The configure script works fine, but the make fails as follows:

setting up CYBERPOWER CP1500PFCLCD
Hi,
Another beginner question. I spend hours trying to find the solution for
how to configure winnut properly but I' struggling to make it work. I want
my QNAP NAS TS-231 to work as a master and send signal to the PC to shut it
down during power outage. I configured QNAP properly (like this:
http://geekbeat.tv/qnap-adding-external-devices-qnap), but I don't know
what to do next.

Join QNAP to a Samba AD
Hello,
I'm currently stuck with a QNAP NAS appliance (don't buy this !)
I have a Sernet Samba 4.5 as an AD controller and my QNAP have a Samba 4.0.25
(latest update)
All i want is to join the QNAP to the AD, the QNAP will act as the file
server.
The join in the official way is okay but the uid / gid mapping is f*cked.
I tried almost everything, change the idmap,

accented characters in filenames mangled when rsyncing to a samba share
Hi folks,
I am having a problem rsyncing files with accents in the names. I've
seen similar problems reported a few times before in the archives but
they didn't seem to be referring to exactly the same problem as what I
have, and I'm not good enough at Linux to solve my problem by
generalising from the information there: sorry.
Anyway, my specific details are this. I am running rsync

[OT] Network Attached Storage
Hello,
Been thinking about either purchasing one of these or building my own.
This will be for home use.
I was looking at the QNAP 451+ or building (DYI NAS) one with FreeNAS. I
also found that CentOS has a NAS project.
Not sure which way to go. They would cost about the same. One would be
proprietary and the other open source. I like open source.
This for home use. Thought I'd start out

Hello Samba Mailing List,
Just to be clear, I am using Ubuntu Server 18.04.4 LTS running Samba 4.7.6 on both DCs.
Is this the Samba version I should be using for this
