SRV records not added by subsequent DC's
Hello, sorry to ask this many questions, but I want to know why things happen they way they do and if perhaps something is wrong. Our new, shiny domain created by classicupgrade consists of 4 (four) domain controllers. dc1 was the first, which was created by classicupgrade. Then I added dc2, dchks and dcirm using samba-tool domain join iww.lan DC -U "IWW\Administrator"

make archive emails undeletable?
I've been using dovecot for a year or two now, and really like it. I have a fairly simple setup, but I think it's time to get a little more advanced. I keep an "archive" of all my email, both sent and received. Every once in a while I get confused, and accidentally delete something from my archive. I also worry that I'll misconfigure a mail client some day and

feature request: undeletable folders
Hello, as we all know from the big webmail-services like hotmail.com, yahoo.com, web.de and so on, several folders exist and nobody can remove them for a good reason, because some services rely on them: Trash, Junk, Sent. Can can't remove Trash, because every deleted message is just moved here. You can't remove Junk, because all messages recognized as spam is moved here. And you

Deleting undeletable files gives no error
I have an odd problem that involves clients deleting files they should not be able to delete, and claiming success, but then the files "come back" again. Here's the setup: I have a filesystem that contains a file "foobar.txt" owned by user "test", group "test". Permissions on this file are 644, permissions on the enclosing directory are 777. I share

Lost Access to Logon Profiles after upgrade to samba 3 Beta 2
Team: My Debian Sarge "testing" box got upgraded from Samba 2.2.6, I believe, to Samba 3 Beta 2 in the latest dist-upgrade supplied spate of updates (90+, and I missed Sambe being in there . . . ). Not a big deal except that now I have lost access to the logon profiles directories at logon time. It's a basic Samba setup. Uses Unix passwords and Unix accounts, etc. Nothing fancy

dbtool --cross-ncs and undeletable errors..
Hi All, On my two-DC setup (dc00 and dc01 - Used to be a 4-Dc setup but 02 and 03 are gone), I've noticed the following errors which I am unable to fix.. Any hints? * Basic dbcheck is clean. [root at dc00 ~]# samba-tool dbcheck Checking 327 objects Checked 327 objects (0 errors) * Cross-NCS shows two errors related to a de-comissionned DC (dc02) and cannot auto-fix this.. How do I fix

Samba Permissions
I just installed samba on my private home network. It looks like I only have read access to shares. Using swat, I changed the create, security, and directory mask to 777, and committed the changes. But I still can't write. Can someone tell me what I did wrong?
