FOG on CentOS Wiki contribution suggestion?
Hello, I'd like to contribute a page on using FOG (FOG is a Linux-based, free and open source computer imaging solution for Windows XP, Vista and 7 that ties together a few open-source tools with a php-based web interface. http://www.fogproject.org/) running on CentOS. Currently have 3 FOG servers deployed on CentOS covering a large workload using an existing Linux DHCP setup in a large

Batch mode creates huge diffs, bug(s)?
So the short summary of my problem is, the batch file rsync creates is HUGE for a very small change. The idea is to create workstation image with partimage, update it with some software and send the image update diff over the wire to a large number of destinations over a satellite link, but the batch file updates are several orders of magnitude too large. I don't know exactly how partimage

Suggested update to the Wiki page on PXElinux (UEFI-related stuff in ISC dhcpd.conf)
Dear gentlemen, here goes the documentation fix I was talking about :-) The Wiki page on PXElinux, specifically the chapter on UEFI at the end of that page: https://wiki.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php?title=PXELINUX#UEFI ...contains a few examples of ISC DHCPd configuration. The stumbling block for me was the syntax of these "if" scopes: if option architecture-type = 9 { filename

Ubuntu 20.04 setup
Louis, et al. Hi! So, I'm working on a 20.04 setup. I think I'll still use the distro version and not Louis' packages. [No offense Louis - I just need to be sure if (forbid) anything happens to Louis, his packages aren't going to be supported any more, and I'll be on my own for security updates etc. The 20.04 versions are pretty current, and I think will meet my needs for the

Samba4 on Ubuntu 18.04 Howto setup ADDC with bind9_DLZ (extra part 4.8.1 samba)
So, I'm curious about the contrast between modifying netplan vs simply disabling systemd.resolved Is there some advantage to the gyrations to make netplan work, vs simply disabling resolved and manually defining the IP and DNS server? [I'm not complaining, I'm thankful for all the options - just wanting to have the best handle possible on the reasoning behind one method vs the other.]

Louis; re:your repo and Ubuntu 18.04
So, Louis - I'm quite interested in using your repo for Samba support on 18.04. You note there's some detail on it on the github site - but I don't seem to find it. Also - while I know it's all just best intentions etc - is this something you intend to do for a while? [I'd be glad to toss some $$$ your way to help, if that's helpful. I'd toss some bucks to SerNet - but

problems with xen and hvm
Dear xen-users. First of all, I''m not a linux-guru and a beginner with xen and completly new in this mailinglist. I''ve installed Xen on debian 6 and I was successful creating two machines: one for tests and "fogserver" (to test speed of writing computer images), both para-virtualisations.

And a very big thank you Rowland for the start of it. This should be a good base to start with as howto for ubuntu 18.04 systemd based. Any suggestion additions please add them, below is also the order

DC disaster recovery
So, I'm generally running my DC's in VM's on Xen [XCP-NG]. And I'm considering recovery from different disaster situations - say a crashed/corrupt DC. Or hardware failure. Yes, I could run a second VM with a second DC. But unless I setup another XCP server and put the VM on that - the biggest threat to the current VM/DC is the hardware it's running on. So, it really

RSAT Hang
So, I setup Samba on Ubuntu 18.04, using the packaged Samba version. [Thanks Rowland/Louis et al.] I'm doing some testing/tinkering using FreeNAS as a share, using the AD as the authentication back-end. As part of that process, you need to add a computer account and change some security settings. I setup RSAT and can see the AD tree, and add users etc. When I try to switch to advanced view

Although, yes, I agree that this is not clear from Agner's report. Please correct me if I am misunderstanding. You are misunderstanding [no worries, happens to everyone = )]. [RFC] llvm-exegesis: Automatic Measurement of Instruction Latency/Uops
[You can find an easier to read and more complete version of this RFC here <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QidaJMJUyQdRrFKD66vE1_N55whe0coQ3h1GpFzz27M/edit?ts=5aaa84ee#> .] Knowing instruction scheduling properties (latency, uops) is the basis for all scheduling work done by LLVM. Unfortunately, vendors usually release only partial (and sometimes incorrect) information. Updating the

[PATCH] Updated udp.c to use real client ip and subnetmask values if on local subnet
Guys, I've been reading the email correspondence syslinux for approximately 3 months, from when I subscribed to the email notices approximately. I've not missed a single E-Mail, and not one has gone un-read. I must say that I've learned an incredible amount and only hope to learn more. Keep up the good work. I have been prowling your email correspondence for the FOG Project. You may
