ad dc demotion fails trying to use non-existent dc as 'partner server for the4 demontion'
I'm trying to demote dc3 from msad dc service.
As the root user, I type this command:
samba-tool domain demote -Uadministrator
which fails with this error:
"Using dc2.infinity.local as partner server for the demotion"
The problem is that dc2 was demoted some weeks ago, and is no longer running samba4.
Is there a way I can force dc3 to use a different dc as the

another demoting that doesn't work
Hi,
I have searched here, and noticed some discussion lately on problems
demoting a dc. In my case, all roles are on DC2, and DC1 & DC3 know that:

Settings,CN=DC2,CN=Servers,CN=Default-First-Site-Name,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=samba,DC=company,DC=com

DomainDnsZones inbound replication issue
Greetings,
I am having a problem with one of my DCs (DC3) replicating DomainDnsZones. On DC3 replication is successful on both Inbound and Outbound with both of my other DCs. On both of my other DCs (DC1 & DC2) I only get a failure with Inbound replication for DomainDnsZones from DC3 with a result 8442 (WERR_DS_DRA_INTERNAL_ERROR).
If I try to force replication to DC3 from DC1 using

DomainDnsZones inbound replication issue
Here's my edited smb.conf and the output of the testparm. As you can see I'm not setting that in my smb.conf and it appears to be turned on by default in Samba 4.4.4. I was going to update Samba on DC1 to 4.4.4 as well, but haven't done that yet. It's currently on 4.2.3. Should I upgrade that as well before changing anything else? Thanks!

IRPC callback failed for DsReplicaSync - NT_STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND
Hello,
I am changing 2 x Gentoo/Samba 4.1 AD DCs for 2 x Ubuntu/Samba 4.7 AD DCs.
I have joined the 2 new DCs and transferred the role to #3.
I am performing sysvol replication from #3 to #4 quite happily with no errors.
I have left them for 2 weeks.
Windows desktops, etc. appear fine with no problems.
I now want to demote and remove #1 and #2 from the domain and network.
In preparation, I

Remove Redundant DCs internal DNS
Hello List,
I have successfully migrated my DCs to 4.7.6-Ubuntu
However, I still have some traces of the old DCs in the DNS...

SOA: serial=570, refresh=900, retry=600, expire=86400, minttl=0, ns=dc3.mydomain.com.
NS: samba.mydomain.com. (flags=600000f0, serial=110, ttl=900)

Four DCs, No Replication
I added three DCs to a single DC Samba4 AD domain.
They initially replicated and came up - but replication does not appear
to be ongoing. A change made to a user via MMC connected to one DC does
not appear on another DC.
It the logs I see bursts of the following message:

I have 2 problems with dns - seeing the child entries and a zone with an extra octet.

I have created a /16 reverse zone as per the wiki page (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/DNS_Administration#To_create_a_.2F24_reverse_zone)...
$ samba-tool dns zonecreate dc3 130.130.in-addr.arpa

Interesting. DC1 and DC2 have many differences; DC1 and DC3 are the same.
Maybe I will demote DC2 and join it again.
