Functional Levels
Thanks for answers.
Why do you have this option if it is not working yet?
Just out of curiosity...

Raise Domain functional level to 2012_R2
Hello Andrew,
first let me say it was a pleasure to meet you in G?ttingen at the SambaXP.
The discussion about the "DNS" in the evening was very interesting.
So, i have asked this question a few weeks before, maybe a entry in the
samba wiki would help ;)

Raise Domain functional level to 2012_R2
Hi,
I am trying to raise the Domain functional level to 2012_R2 from 2008 R2
using samba-too domain raise --domain-level=DOMAIN_LEVEL command. But I
am receiving the error "ERROR: Domain function level can't be higher
than the lowest function level of a DC!". How do we actually raise the
lowest functional level to change the functional & forest level?
Samba Version is

can't join MS Server 2012 domain as DC with 4.1.2
Hello,
I'm trying to join an Arch Linux server as a DC to an existing domain
with functional level Windows Server 2012 (5), but I'm getting the
following error: DsAddEntry failed with status (5, 'WERR_ACCESS_DENIED')
info (8567, 'WERR_DS_INCOMPATIBLE_VERSION'). Exchange 2013 is also
installed on this domain by the way.

maximum samba AD functional level?
Hi!
In the samba wiki there's this page: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Raising_the_Functional_Levels
which basically says that the maximum supported functional level is 2008_R2, and
that 2012 (and 2012_R2) are included but not supported.
This page mentions maximum samba version 4.4 and has been modified in 2017 (besides some
formatting changes).
What's the current situation?

Hai,
Now, differences is fine, but can you see if one of the 2 servers is correct, and for that it might be handy to share the output.
You can push the good DB to the other DC. ( a forced replication )
And i can understand why you upgrade ...
Did you see :
samba-tool domain schemaupgrade --help
Usage: samba-tool domain schemaupgrade [options]

DN lists have different size: 4065 != 4029
Hello,
dc3 = principal DC
dc4 = secondary DC
I had this problem last month after updating samba to version 4.10.x. and
also the schema from 45 to 69. But it looked like it had been corrected.
Today I noticed that on dc4 there are computers that are not on dc3.
I updated:
4.7.x to 4.8.x
4.8.x to 4.9.x and only after that I upgrade to 4.10.x version.
When I run these commands:
samba-tool

im on phone, had a quick small look at the dc3 output.
is your time in sync, it looks like a 3 - 10 min different.

Domain function levels and extending ad scheme
Hi,
for now I am using Win2003 functional level of my domain.
I just wanted to ask if I raise the level to 2008_R2 will the scheme be extended
like this article says?
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd446680%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
I just want to know this for the time samba will someday support DC related
GPOs.
Thanks in advance

how to upgrade schema version?
Hi!
I'm running samba 4.3.11 on Ubuntu server Xenial. It's the only AD-DC in
a windows domain that used to be hosted by a single Win2k3 server.
The AD schema version is 30, the functionality level is already raised
to 2008_R2 (domain) and 2008 (forest).

Raising Domain Level
G'day All,
We are trying to raise the level of our test samba4 DCs. Our windows
dude wants the Domain level to be 2012_R2.
I am referencing:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Raising_the_Functional_Levels#Supported_Functional_Levels
We managed to get both domain and forest levels to 2008 R2 - forest was
2003.
However, when we try to raise further, we are getting what seems to be

how to upgrade schema version?
Hello ,
I did it from schema version 31 to 47.
You'll have to get the ldf files used by adprep.
The files have to be split between updates and adds.
There must be also some syntax changes.
I can send you the resulting files if you want.
You'll also need to manually add some informations in order to be able to join a real windows 2008 R2 controller.
Those informations are :

AD DCs Upgrade
I am planning to upgrade the DCs using the join and promote method.
List of DCs
-----------
1) SAMBA1
2) SAMBA2
3) DC1
4) DC2
Currently SAMBA1 is the PDC and SAMBA2 is the "SDC" and are in sync with replication and rsync sysvol. DCs SAMBA1 and SAMBA2 are 4.1 git releases with AD Schema version 47.
My plan to get to AD Schema version 69 was...
0. Add entries to the DHCP Server for the
