Samba4 on Ubuntu 18.04
I installed two samba ad in replication. One fileserver (domain member) and printserver (domain member). I built a CTDB cluster with it. All are running on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS! On the AD Server i got a problem with the internal DNS from samba because systemd-resolver thought it is the DNS boss now. I disabled systemd-resolve (systemctl disable systemd-resolved.service) and mange the

Samba4 on Ubuntu 18.04
A sort of digest reply... RPvs> Not sure, what is a samba4/adc ??? RPvs> Or do you mean a 'Has anybody joined a Samba DC on Ubuntu 18.04' ? Yes, doing an active directory controller [ADC] not just a workgroup-share. [Though, not "joining" a DC already in existance, but creating a new AD setup.] RPvs> If so, then yes and it was hell What exactly was hellish about it?

Windows 2000 DomU
Hello, I am doing tests to convert old rotting servers into a big shiny new Xen platform. I have been able to migrate a Windows 2003 server without a scratch. I am trying to do the same thing with Windows 2000 Server but things aren''t so great... I made an image from the disk that worked in a machine. Then I boot on this image using Xen. Windows 2000 starts to boot up then give me a

GPO / Sysvol problems
So, some updates. I started that email a couple of hours ago - but suddenly, without changing a thing, the test client/station is suddenly now getting the correct GPO details. Yet, I've not synced the sysvol or done anything to change or update the GPO on either DC. See inline...
