Find/delete bad DNS Entry
Thanks for the reply Denis! I tried upgrading samba and it said "2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.13" is the latest version. The RSAT DNS Manager fails to list the contents of the zone. It actually kills the SMBD process when I try and I have to restart it. So I can't compare it to Apache Directory Studio. Is there some way to query the underlying samba DNS data store to find the

@Heinz, Thanks for testing also, but what is your samba version, OS and packages samba of compiled samba. To keep info bit more complete @Christian, can you try purge the deleted DNS records. Can you also add the debug 10 log, shown below to this bugreport. https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14268 I'll retest it here later on today with a few more zones. But i must finish some

net ads testjoin OK, net rpc testjoin fails
Okay, here's another wrinkle: if I run 'net rpc testjoin' immediately after joining, it succeeds, but 'net rpc info' fails (see below for the -d10 output). 'net rpc testjoin' fails as described in my last message after a reboot. Looking at the output from the failures, I notice that 'net rpc' is looking for SRV records at '_ldap._tcp.pdc._msdcs.DOMAIN'

Debian Jessie joining AD as member fails with "The object name is not found."
Hi all! To clarify, it must have been removed from the copy-pasta, but “net ads join -U” did produce a password prompt as expected. The dig command produced the following: root at host:~$ dig -t SRV _ldap._tcp.domain.local ; <<>> DiG 9.9.5-9+deb8u6-Debian <<>> -t SRV _ldap._tcp.domain.local ;; global options: +cmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode:

Debian Jessie joining AD as member fails with "The object name is not found."
Hi all! I had originally been using a DHCP-assigned address. I have now switched to a static IP, but that didn't solve the problem (same error message). I'm attaching my resolv.conf, nsswitch.conf and krb5.conf files. I have not manually altered either of them, although krb5.conf appears to have been updated by some tool somewhere along the way because my domain is listed as the

Samba 4.0.7 DC in Windows 2003R2 AD
Greetings, The ultimate goal is a full implementation of Samba4/OpenChange/SOGo but that onion has too many layers to shoot for the whole thing at once. So, I've added a Samba/Ubuntu12.04 DC to the AD and want to get it totally correct before proceeding with OC. I have two questions (at the moment): First, PAM is not included on the Samba DC and I need to know if it is a requirement. The

Samba4/Windows DNS replication and administration issue
Hi all, I am having trouble with DNS replication between a Linux/Samba 4.0.9 box and Windows Server 2012 domain controller, as well as administering the Linux DNS from the Windows DNS Manager snap-in. First a little background. I am trying to integrate a Samba 4.0.9 server as a domain controller in an existing Windows Active Directory domain. The domain and forest are at Windows 2008R2

debugging bind9_DLZ
On wiki page https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/BIND9_DLZ_DNS_Back_End#Reconfiguring_the_BIND9_DLZ_Back_End in the "Debugging the Bind Module" the section discusses the location for the log file. The /etc/named.log says "bash: bind: -g: cannot read: No such file or directory" . . . I am puzzled, what "file or directory" is being referenced? My "nslookup

Debian Jessie joining AD as member fails with "The object name is not found."
Hi all! I'm trying to join Debian Jessie to an existing AD domain as a member server (AD DC is Server 2012R2) to run it as a file server. I installed acl, samba, winbind, libnss-winbind, and krb5-user using APT, and configured /etc/samba/smb.conf according to the Samba wiki article. The error the join command is producing is " Failed to join domain: failed to join domain

I'll bet static ip, with correct resolv.conf hosts and nsswitch.conf and krb5.conf. This must be the clue... > Creation of workstation account failed: NT_STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND So the join reaches the AD but here something happens. Russelt, can you try again with debug 10 and post both logs. net ads join -UAdministrator and net ads join -UAdministratos -S YOUR_ADDC.domain.tld.

Recently joined 2k3, shut down primary, seized roles, now have slight dns (maybe) problem.
Hello All, As per the subject, we have recently joined a w2k3 domain folowing instructions on wiki as well as well as relying on valuble information on the list. The steps we took were the following: Join samba as secondary Created dns records by hand (ldbsearch, samba-tool dns add) Checked replication Copied sysvol Transferred some roles from windows Transferred some roles from samba (fsmo
