Update from el7.4 to el7.5 broke samba 4.6.14
Hi Rowland, Yes, that's right (Thank you). Here is what happened: On the DC's, libldb was this version on el7.4: - libldb-1.1.29-2.el7_4.wing.x86_64 (from Wing's repo). el7.5 brought in a more recent version: - libldb-1.2.2-1.el7.x86_64 - libldb-1.2.2-1.el7.i686 What would be the best course of action here? A) Downgrade el7.5 to libldb-1.1.29-2.el7_4.wing.x86_64? B) rebuild

Update from el7.4 to el7.5 broke samba 4.6.14
Hi Rowland, Yes, I noticed that el7.5 had samba 4.7.1. Unfortunately, one cannot use that version as an AD DC. Here's the situation: # rpm -ql samba-dc /usr/share/doc/samba-dc-4.7.1 /usr/share/doc/samba-dc-4.7.1/README.dc (and it mentions that because of MIT kerberos the samba AD DC features cannot be enabled on el7 at this moment). Perhaps the best way forward would be to rebuild

Error installing Nvidia driver on a 7.5 beta kernel
OK, I know CentOS has nothing to do with RHEL beta releases, but I wanted to test if el7.5 has added support for a particular peripheral (Wacom Pro 2 tablet) ... but was unable to install the propriety Nvidia display driver (v390.25) on a test workstation - and was wondering if anyone could explain on what is going on. All I've done is upgrade an existing CentOS 7.4 install with the RHEL

Wing's repo, rpms & upgrades
Hi All, I started using Samba as an AD DC on el7 a few weeks ago. I have some questions for others who mights also be using Wing's rpms on el7 (http://wing-net.ddo.jp/wing). A) Is there a wiki/issues page for that repo? I could not find any.. B) is that the only repo of samba rpms available for el7/centos7? C) Is there a reason why samba46-4.6.14 is the latest available version? Are

How to build Samba4 using static linked libraries
Hi All: I am building the torture/smbtorture for samba-4.0.0alpha17. After build, I am running the test in another environment. I not only need to copy the binary smbtorture, I also need to copy the shared libraries. This is HUGE inconvenient for us. Could somebody tell me how to build the binary using static linked libraries? Thanks very much Peixing libpthread.so.0 =>

Jansson not found when compiling Samba
I am trying to compile Samba 4.9.1, on Ubuntu 18.04.1 server. However, when I try to configure, it says that jansson is not found. I have installed libjansson-dev from the repo (version 2.11-1), but still get the error. Config.log says: Checking for jansson /bin/sh: 1: --cflags: not found not found

possible memory leak in ldb module while dbcheck on RODC
Hai Andrej, Oeps, Sorry, my mistake 4.6.x needs at least 1.1.29. But you can upgrade to 4.6.x ;-) Check again and if that problem then still exists, then i think you can better ask this one in the samba-technical list. Or if Rowland knows something more about this. One tip, wait untill tomorrow or the weekend, there wil be a new release due to the regression bug. There planning is to be

Samba AD/DC crashed again, third time in as many months
I do have the 4.3.3 sources. The only configure flag i set was --enable-debug. I can execute that install, however the issue of unwanted libs still lingers. I'm confused, is it or is it not an issue that i have libtld, libtalloc and pytalloc libs in /usr/lib? And if it is an issue whats the best path forward to resolve it? Dynamic DNS record scavenging support
Hello, according to this: https://gitlab.com/samba-team/samba/merge_requests/26 samba should support DNS record scavenging is this only true for the internal DNS or also BIND? Should this work? I enabled it (dns zone scavenging = yes) to try it out and got this (didn't enable it from the DNS Manager tool as I got the error first): Jul 24 16:39:20 dc1 samba[29071]: [2019/07/24
